So i was watching the new cpt.foxy video about the idris - and thats why i create this post here: This constant “it’s a multi-crew ship” argument is being used as a conversation killer, and honestly, it doesnt hold up. How often do you actually see an Idris or Polaris flying around with a full crew in the Verse? Be realistic, almost never. Yet discussions are framed as if every capital owner has a perfectly organized group online at all times. Thats simply not how most people play. Lets address the core issue: These capital ships were fully paid for with real money. Not rented, not partially unlocked — fully purchased. (apart from wikelo). Because of that alone, players should be able to use them in a meaningful way without being forced to rely on a large crew or random players. There is nowhere stated that capital ships are forbidden to be used by a single player. On top of that, these ships are account-bound. Only the account owner can spawn them. They are not multi-account assets, not shared ownership ships. That alone clearly implies solo operation was always part of the design expectation. Many players dont want capital ships as PvP win buttons. They want them as a mobile base, a logistical hub, a long-term platform. And for that purpose, it is completely reasonable that the pilot can control torpedoes and maybe 1–2 turrets. Thats not overpowered — that’s basic usability. The “it’s unfair to other players” argument doesn’t really work either. If a small or medium ship decides to engage an Idris or Polaris, that is a deliberate choice. Ship size, role, and firepower are supposed to matter. Otherwise, capital ships lose their entire purpose. And let’s be honest for a moment: The CPT.Fox video showcasing the Idris railgun literally one-shotting a Hammerhead exists. That level of firepower is clearly intended. Given that, it makes little sense to argue that letting a Polaris pilot operate limited defensive weaponry would somehow break balance. Polaris owners urgently need to be able to use more weapons! Multi-crew should be a force multiplier. But forced multi-crew isn’t immersive design — it’s simply bad gameplay design. Edit: I think many people have misunderstood what this is about. I am not demanding that I, as a pilot, be able to use all turrets and main weapons at the same time! I am simply asking for a balance with the Idris, for example, where the pilot can use the main cannon. I also think that most of those who are arguing against this don't even own an Idris or Polaris and are simply afraid that solos will be able to play capitals. :slightly_smiling_face:
