First off, I appreciate Yogi. But.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raKvTfBJgbY Why are we finding this out via a comment in a random friggen Discord chat? This is, frankly, frustrating. Not only the news, but in the way which it was delivered. Edit: This has turned into a wide ranging conversation and I've made several clarifying replies, that i want to make sure are visible at the top to keep this on track. Yogi is great, and this has next to nothing to do with him. This is more about radio silence on key features of the game. In several posts over the last week, I've advocated for the community team to take the lead on updating us more frequently on the features that matter. As a backer, i should not have turn to Pipe Line, NDA leakers, data miners, content creator discord chats or Devs answering random questions during their off hours, to get information about this project! With the focus being on SQ42, the Devs are in crunch mode. I'm sure Jared's team is also swamped. So that means sitting down for video updates is a big ask. Understood. But that doesn't mean we should have to just accept radio silence on a lot of this, or depend on the channels mentioned above. That is why I'm advocating for small, semi regular updates on the features that we care about via the community teams. (images or video totally optional.) It just needs to be brief and easy for the teams to publish. For Example: The other day we got a small update on Maelstrom from a Dev that was kind enough to sound off. It was fantastic to hear about, but why on earth was this the way i was hearing about it after 2 years? Why is he having to use his free time to fill us in? I see people asking questions about Maelstrom all the time. Couldn't a community team member have asked him for an update, and posted the reply on their behalf? Everyone wins. It's low effort, high impact. And with the appropriate visibility for a feature of that scale. We have been told numerous times that a lot of the Dev's that are working on some of these features aren't comfortable talking to the community directly or being on camera. If that's the case then the above solution is a win/win. We can get the news straight from the source, the Dev gets to hold on to their anonymity. The Community Team member is just interfacing on their behalf. CIG needs to realize that so much of their community runs on faith, and that flame needs to be stoked with information. ISC has sort of turned into ship commercials and their normal communication output has suffered, probably due to team workloads. And at this point we have a roadmap that isn't really reflective of actual feature progress, since by their own guidance, the progress bars don't actually coincide with completion. But subscribers are chipping in to help, so that means we need to figure out a different way. It needs to be expedient and low effort for CIG, and accessible, visible and relevant to us. Thanks.
