Hi everyone, Today marks the release of the all-new Roadmap, designed to give you more insight and visibility into the development of Star Citizen and Squadron 42 than ever before. Since our publish earlier today, we’ve already seen a number of frequently asked questions, so in an effort to be as informational as possible, we’ve spun up a quick FAQ to answer questions popping up today. Of course, this is only a handful of questions we’ve seen so far from Spectrum and Reddit, but we’re monitoring community discussions and will look to answer questions where we can! We’re fully aware that with an avalanche of new information like today, it’s hard to keep up with everything. We highly encourage you to take the time to read the Roadmap Roundup – as a majority of the frequently asked questions are already answered here. Thanks! Where is iCache/Server Meshing? As mentioned in the Roadmap Roundup, what is still missing on the Roadmap is our Core Tech Group, which is comprised of 9 teams working on iCache and Server Meshing, as well as AI, Network, Graphics, and Engine. We plan to add our Core Tech Group to the Progress Tracker in January. What about the other 20+ teams? After the 9 CTG teams, you will only be showing 29 teams, and you said you have 50. What are those teams and when do they show up? As mentioned in the Roadmap Roundup, we're currently planning to add additional teams in Q1. This will include teams such as VFX, Audio, Lighting, Character Art, and more. Where is X feature? With our initial publish, we are only showing the deliverables currently on the roadmap for the 20 teams listed for the next 4 quarters. If you don’t see your favorite feature here, it may be because it’s not scheduled for the next 4 quarters, it is on a team we have yet to roll out, or both. Starlifter Hype! We would like to set expectations early on this one so there’s no surprises. As many of you will remember from previous messaging, just because a deliverable is in a release column does not mean it's guaranteed to release in the initial release patch. When you see a feature listed for 3.13 release, that means it could come in any release from 3.13.0 to a later 3.13.x patch up to the final release before 3.14. Look at that Release Card as if it said 3.13.x instead of 3.13. In the Starlifter’s case, we are currently targeting to release both the M2 and C2 in a 3.13.x patch that will come after the initial 3.13.0 patch. In the Progress Tracker, I see that X feature shows it will be complete in June. Does that mean it is finished then and will be released to us? One thing we want to clarify is that this Progress Tracker is team-based, and what that means is that the deliverable you are looking at is only the portion that this team in particular is working on. And it will finish its piece at the estimated end of its task. Just because the Planet Content Team shows that it will finish Nyx in June does not mean that Nyx will then ship to live. In some cases, multiple teams will be working on a deliverable concurrently, each taking a different piece. We don’t yet have downstream teams in yet, but Audio, VFX, Core Tech (Nyx will need server meshing after all), and other teams will also have deliverables on their roadmap for Nyx, and only when we start to see all these interconnected deliverables coming together can we begin to estimate when you might see Nyx delivered to you in a live patch. As another example, we have the MISC Hull B on the Vehicle Concept Team. In some cases, a larger piece of content, like a ship, has to be developed sequentially. The Vehicle Content Team can’t work on the Hull B until the Vehicle Concept Team is finished with its deliverable. In that case, the content is like a relay, and the work gets handed off to a downstream or different upstream team to work on the next step of getting that content to a state where it can ship to players. We know many of you are excited to see things like Pyro, the Polaris, and more, but keep in mind that what you see on the Progress Tracker is only when that team will finish its piece of the puzzle. Look to the Release View when we roll it out with four quarters of cards for a sense of when we might expect to release the content, tech, or features you are looking for. It is so hard to find things on this roadmap. Can I search for a deliverable? Not yet, but you will in the future. This is v0.5 of the Roadmap and we have lots of features we want to add, not the least of which is a search function. When we return in the new year, we’ll have more news on when you can expect to see these new features – like searching, marking your favorite teams or deliverables, adding a full year view, a color-coded Release View, and more – to come. There’s a typo on the Tumbril Nova Tank No there's not. I have more questions! Good! We'll do our best to answer questions as we see them!
