A lot of victory laps going on right now from people claiming that PvP players have somehow “lost” because of the new Rockbreaker locations. But when you actually look at what changed, nothing fundamental did. All CIG did was divide locations for a new theme park styled event into risk categories. Players who want to avoid danger can continue doing exactly what they were already doing and players who are willing to operate in higher-risk areas can still do that as well. So the risk vs reward structure didn't change. What’s more concerning is the perverse attitude that’s being permitted to become normalised in these forums. Where backers are being demonised as selfish, toxic or somehow a problem that needs to be designed out because of they do "PvP". This is evident with entire threads that are celebrating the idea that PvP players are being “shut down” or denied the gameplay they want. This kind of anti-pvp mentality is exactly what’s creating hostility in the community and ostracizing backers on Spectrum for doing what the game permits them to do. PvP players didn’t invent risk in Star Citizen, but it has always been part of the game’s design. Acting like other backers enjoying a different part of the sandbox are somehow enemies of the community just drives the divide further. If people want to play safer gameplay loops, that’s their choice and CIG facilitates that to the level of risk that they want players to experience. But it's not the PvP players forcing anyone into dangerous areas either, they're not building the game, CIG is. Celebrating the idea that another group of players is somehow losing out isn’t a healthy direction for the community and allowing Spectrum, the communities forums for Star Citizen, to be a platform for the anti-pvp movement isn't helping maintain community cohesion either. If the goal is a healthier community, then these anti-pvp threads that celebrate other backers being denied gameplay they enjoy, should stop being allowed to be normalised. Fracturing is already apart of gameplay mechanics, we don't need it to be one here in Spectrum too.
