@croberts68 How does it feel to build and run a company that is financed by fans and enthusiasts, but does not deliver and repeatedly fails to achieve goals? Is a direct and serious question. I think Star Citizen got lost. I don't "buy" ships, I finance a company and the development of a game (shared dream) and here I, and maybe many others, want to see progress. Time is money and my opinion is that too much time is put into graphical details without the basic framework working or being in place. Stanton is stuffed full of things that don't do me any good. "Barkeeper AI" has never worked, landing zones, caves, etc. that have almost nothing to offer in terms of play. Unfortunately Star Citizen is currently just a badly functioning "pew pew" for me at the moment. It feels like 300 designers and only 20 technicians / programmers work at CIG. I can remember a video where the server team was introduced, there were a handful of people back then. It is said again and again (like a mantra): it is an alpha. Then why are professions not integrated as T0? If salvage should have found its way into the game a few years ago, why is it still "just planned"? Show what you've got so far, or is that a spoiler? In the meantime, I believe that the company lacks the knowledge and skills to even be able to implement the goals. Nevertheless "releases" are presented over and over again, that one might believe "it is coming soon". On the surface, only new things come into play that are purely optical. The Orison landing zone has no playful added value, neither does clouds, but we want to "see" them all. MissleOperator, Scanning, etc. all things that would require a technology for sharing ship functions ("real" multicrew). Actually something that should have been ready for months / years. Ships are the main feature of Star Citizen, at least I think so. SQ42 is a topic in itself. The way updates are communicated here, absolutely terrible. There is no longer a time horizon because everything before, at least in retrospect, was utopian. This aftertaste that making money is the main goal (it's also important!) and not that a "promised" dream will be delivered, intensifies with me from quarter to quarter. Offering skin packages at a price where 2-3 people can consume a good lunch is actually a cheek. Is that really necessary? I think it's a shame that this feeling comes about at all. I can no longer look at SCL because it always means "we are planning", "we are currently evaluating", "we are considering how we can implement that" ... for content and technologies, where was spoken years ago. Cutting, decompression (RoomSystem), something was shown here years ago - so it was worked on - but it all seems to have "disappeared". In my simple imagination, the concept phase should have been completed for years. I don't understand at all that I'm still hearing about it today. A nasty assumption that could come to mind here: What if CIG thinks we need a 3 year plan and we repeat that over and over again. Because, on average, everyone who financed the game no longer follows the development after 3 years. Then we can start all over again and rethink things. Why does this thought occur to me? > Cause and effect? But I'm losing the thread. Something personal, which is irrelevant here, but should perhaps underline this contribution a little: When I saw the Kickstarter trailer and supported the project (I'm a big Wing Commander fan) I wasn't married. Now I will soon have my eighth wedding anniversary, I will be a father for the second time this summer, my firstborn will start school next year and my forties is just around the corner. It is "just" a game, but with the money of the supporters several companies were founded and many jobs are paid for with it. So I see you (Chris Roberts) also having an obligation to deliver, even if only step by step (something you do) - I just don't want to believe that several companies with several hundred employees work so slowly (subjectively). If I look at the roadmap of what "should" come by Q1 2022, where is this project going? Where is the progress? Where is the approach to a release or beta status? Your "luck" is that the supporters do not act as a board of directors and yet you enjoys fool's freedom somewhere - you can do whatever you want with the millions of dollars, that is your right too. In my eyes, you should live up to your responsibilities. My money is gone and I don't regret having supported you either and I hope that my / your dream will come true. Nevertheless, it seems to me that the project needs a wake-up call! We have been in Alpha 3.x for almost 41 months (since December 23, 2017). @discolando I hope Jared and other community managers read this and Chris Roberts will give this thought a few seconds. English is not my native language > this post is a personal opinion and I know it is difficult to put feelings, thoughts, fears and emotions on paper. It should be understood objectively (not offense at all)! My opinion does not have to be discussed either, of course everyone can express their opinion. EDIT: I started supporting the game in August 2013 ,as Hans Gruber "surprise". I didn't think about paying attention to the enlist date what some have mentioned.
