Hi everyone, I wanted to open a discussion about the current state of PvP in the Verse, which honestly feels completely dead right now. Before I dive in, let me clarify: I absolutely love the current direction for PvE players. It’s fantastic that PvE gameplay has been getting so much love. We are getting dedicated PvE dungeons, and with instancing planned, PvE players are finally getting exactly what they want. As someone who enjoys PvE content a lot, I highly appreciate these additions. However, I also love PvP - org scale PvP - and that part of Star Citizen currently feels completely abandoned. And let’s be entirely honest here to prevent the usual misunderstandings: Randomly getting jumped by a player while hauling cargo is NOT the PvP we need. Just because solo players occasionally encounter players - some times gankers or griefers - does not mean the PvP gameplay loop is healthy or active. Organic PvP died when we lost clear, dedicated hotspots that drove player interaction. Remember the early days of Jumptown? It created organic, high-stakes PvP because players had a specific location to fight over. Today, there is no equivalent. No Wake of Deaster, no Ghost Hollow. Hathor is the only spot where you can find PvP sometimes. Stormbreaker is dead because its 90% FPS Gameplay. CZ as well: Nice, but no ship comabt. There is no central flashpoint where PvP players know they can go to find a good, consensual fight while not hanging around at PvE bottlenecks. Furthermore, the introduction of the crafting system highlights this issue. We can now craft upgrades for weapons and ship components. But for PvE content, base-tier gear is more than enough to clear any bunker or bounty. There is absolutely no need to grind for optimized crafted gear if you are just fighting AI. The only place where min-maxing would actually matter is high-level PvP. But since there is nothing worth fighting over, the entire progression loop of crafting feels pointless. I don’t want to hunt down or disrupt PvE players who just want to do their loops in peace. What we desperately need is dedicated PvP locations. It doesn’t even have to be complex. For example: Take an abandoned Hathor Station in Pyro. Fill it with rare, scarce loot that regularly respawns. This would naturally draw PvP players to one area to fight for resources, giving a mechanical purpose to our crafted and optimized gear, while leaving PvE players completely unbothered in the rest of the system. What about a single Onyx location marked as PvP and only for PvP? I mean, we have 120 locations of those for PvE as a pre-instance-solution. What about a single Rockcracker location marked as PvP and only for PvP? Or bring back Jumptown or take one of the distribution centers and create a PvP hotspot with rare loot. There are so many options to not disturb the PvE playerbase but give the PvP players a hand full of locations to bring their friends and org against other orgs. PvE is in a great spot right now, but PvP needs some love too. What are your thoughts? Are you finding organic PvP anywhere, or does the competitive side of the Verse feel as empty to you as it does to me?
