As many of you are aware, the new referral system is being implemented as of July 1. THIS IS NOT A PETITION TO CHANGE THAT. we all know that a new system is needed. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/1/thread/new-rewards-new-ladder-coming-july-1-1 With this new system comes a new reward ladder for referrals, and MANY of us feel concerned, upset, frustrated, and/or betrayed by the fact that CIG has decided to wipe all of the referral progress. They TOLD us that they would discuss and keep us updated, but we're nearly half way and there has been no update, no further discussion from CIG, and with the stakes currently on the line, I've decided to make a petition here. I considered other platforms, but Spectrum feels like the most appropriate place. Sign your handle below, offer a comment, etc. Reasons why this matters: Larger streamers and content creators have their counts and I feel they should be able to keep the "prestige" of their total referrals at least for documentation purposes, but they are also the ones who will be most easily able to climb the new ladder. I don't mind having everyone over the current maximum reward cap start back at the beginning. For those of us who are very small creators, or just backers who have recruited friends and family, we aren't suddenly going to be given access to fresh friends and family members interested in playing the game. Those resources are "tapped" for all intents and purposes. Over the last 10 years for example, I have totaled 8 recruits, one of which is an alt, and the other is an account for my partner who will "play when the bugs are gone". (so an alt). The rest are the three friends/family that I've convinced to buy a package, and a three people who watched a video I made, grabbed my code from the randomizer, or saw my code in a facebook group thread. What I want: • EVERYONE with even a single referral should keep their total referral count, the old tracker should be frozen and memorialized. • All prospects should be maintained and carried over to the new system. • Anyone who has already begun climbing the old ladder should get credit in the new rewards ladder for those referrals • Everyone who has maxed out their referral rewards should be "prestiged" into the new ladder, get a fancy flair banner/marker/ship skin/name plate in chat, tour of the studio. etc. , they've done the most to promote the game, pull all the stops. If they start at 0 or 2017 or 7200 or 18840, it costs CIG nothing and hurts none of the rest of us, so frankly I don't have feelings either way. The number of people who commented in the official thread who had referrals but hadn't capped out was overwhelming, and we're the ones most hurt by having our progress wiped out. I want to bring people to the game that I love. but who's to say that in another year or two they don't rework the system again? this sets a bad precedent, and is a slap in the face to everyone who has put in the time, effort, and social capital to bring friends into the verse. Thank you all for your time and consideration. Sign below. I've given up on counting, sign your name, state your case, give it an upvote, or join the clowns and exes. The purpose of this is to express community sentiment in a somewhat tangible way and in a dedicated place. I sharxbyte do hereby sign this petition in support of keeping my referral ladder progress and do implore Cloud Imperium Games to respect the effort I and other players have put into growing the community.
