Edit: the amount of real discussion happening right now is a testament to why Spectrum can be as good or better than the old forums. Back in the day I had this discussion many times with many people, and not once did it produce even half this amount of unique visitors. And the amount of troll responses really is all the proof I need that it's a logical enough argument to upset some of you folks. I'm glad it's finally hitting the front page. It's my favorite topic, as it's something I haven't found a real solution to in my eyes. Thanks for the discussion guys. I found it kind of ironic that the device sponsoring the event was an SSD twice the price of others that would only save people a few seconds; being showcased around Quantum travel times that will at times take over 20 minutes. People saying they will go to the bathroom, go get a beer, or even just Alt-tab out and look at Reddit... Putting yourself at massive risk. Let's say you do go to the bathroom and by some chance the game is synced to your phone which you happen to take to the bathroom, and there happens to be a system in place to tell you that you're now being attacked via your phone. Are you really going to hurry and have s*** stained on your pants and go sit down in your computer chair like that? Let's say that all of those things or at least some of them aren't in place and you aren't notified that you are under attack, are you really going to be alt tabbing to surf the web? The irony being wait times are seen as so bad people are willing to spend large amounts of money to reduce them by a few seconds, but here are praising having to wait minutes. I mean every other day people here bash Spectrum for being useless and now all of a sudden people are saying it's what they're going to be doing the majority of the time via their mobiglass? Because if quantum times are that long that is exactly what you're going to be doing, you're going to be sitting there watching lines go past your face longer than you're actually playing the game. And what if they do break it up, what if every time you just want to get from point A to point B you fall out of quantum to look at anomaly you don't care about? Or to be attacked by some Pirates because the instancing server decided to roll those dice? How good will the Mobi glasses connection to Spectrum have to be for people to want to use it? What about the people on single-seater ships that can't get up to go play there hyper Vanguard Force machine? What if you don't even have to get out of your seat to play Arena Commander or Star Marine. But what if those things crash when you're playing them, will you then crash to the desktop? There once was a dream that was Star Citizen, it evolved to be something more fun to play. I can see how the player fantasy of wanting a good view out of your ship can be something that takes precedence over artist design. But I don't see how the player fantasy of space being incredibly big can work the same way. I'm not even saying that I'm against it, I just see lots of potential problems and people talking about it as if there are none, which is not something this Community ever does..
