Players in groups will likely use discord anyway, so they won't rely on distance VOIP calls ingame. The feature looks cool but discord will be more reliable because players can talk to each other in every situation. The real use for VOIP is proximity VOIP. Being able to chat to strangers you just met in a spaceport, bar or planet surface is more important. Because you can make friends this way BEFORE meeting on a discord. So I would like to suggest to give proximity VOIP priority because chatting up strangers is where the real fun and gameplay is. Also there should be regular prox VOIP for pressurized areas, like a spaceport interior. But also a proximity radio. An example for that is: You walk up to a landed reclaimer while the pilot is in the cockpit. He should be able to use a special prox radio channel or loudspeakers to talk to you. This way a potentially hostile situation can be defused. Because a stranger approaching you without the chance to talk to each other will almost inevitably lead to shoot on sight.
