As you read this a war is going down in Eve online that is unlike anything in gaming history. Thousands of player have been mining, trading, ratting, shipping and PVPing for this moment. Many will come into massive gains from this and many more will lose everything, It will be a epic moment for gaming as a whole. But dont think this war is only for the PVP orgs and players. A war like this requires countless players to run logistics, transporting ship, ammo, modules and everything else needed to the front lines. Construction need to take place to push harder at the enemy. Traders need to buy and sell weapons and ships, scores of salvagers are needed to pick the battlefields clean long after the front has moved on. The Gears of war are many and to all those who bitch and moan about PVP in star citizen, you are only robbing yourselves and others from these great moments. PVP is as valuable in a game like this as trading is, without the risks the rewards are meager and the stories we tell our friends are few. PVP doesn't just mean you get blown up if your luck runs out or you make an unwise decision, It means someone somewhere needs a rescue, someone needs a loadout trasported to them for their new ship, someone's wreck is there to be salvaged, someone has hit rock bottom and needs to man your turret untill they can afford a new ship. PVP is as much for the players doing it as it is for those who avoid it. If you really dont like it I hear there's a good space trucking simulater out there with a billion systems you can get lost in and you'll never need to see another player. Yours Sincearly Carebear-CosmicHugs Following up after a lot of comments, There are alot of people missing the point here. I am saying that there is more to PVP than shooting each other. Avoiding conflict is as much PVP as getting into a fight, buying and selling, plotting a smart course and building a base is PVP, every action you make that impacts/infuences another player is PVP. These interactions generate a mountain of non-PVP opportunity for more player actions, otherwise known as gameplay. Additionally; Sure NPC's can do all these things but that take months if not years of scripting, give the players tool and we will use them in ways no one ever thought of. It seems to me that if you swapped out the player shooting you in all situations with an npc everyone would be totally fine with that, Why? whats the difference, if the smart, skilled player beats you it's an ego hit but if the dumb predictable AI does it's acceptable? It's pure stubborness.
