Before I even start this thread, I just want to get this out of the way: I am well aware that this is an open PVP game, and that PVP anywhere is part of the design. I expect PVP anywhere I go, at any time, and that includes the possibility for it to occur during a"mainly PVE" event, as CIG has referred to Xenothreat. That said, it's a bit frustrating that the few times I"ve tried to test xenothreat on the PTU, there are gankers out at the wrecks killing anyone and everyone who shows up. Now, I know this is not their fault, they're just trying to have fun, and with nothing else to keep them entertained, a reliable place to see ships show up is a good place for it. I also know that it's on me and other cargo haulers to bring defense along with us, if we don't want to be ganked. However, it seems that because the event has turned into a PVP gank fest, that I am unable to get anyone to actually successfully play the event. No one who is interested in mostly PVE gameplay wants to warp into a known PVP area. Perhaps this is a flaw in the design of the event itself. I feel that the PVE parts of the event would be much smoother and actually able to be completed if they were separated from the PVP parts. This could be accomplished by having not one singular location where cargo boxes are collected, but to have multiple locations around the area that players can pick and choose from. It's not usually more than one or two gankers in a server. If one area is being camped by gankers, they can go to another area. The PVPers can still camp the idris area, but at least the PVEers can have a chance to collect without being harassed (at least not by PVPers, the xenothreat enemies should still be there as that adds action), and then try to high tail it to the javelin without being ganked. In the long term, hopefully there will be enough PVP stuff going on that gankers will not be attracted to these sorts of events in the future, but I am not going to hold out hope on that. I think the fix needs to be in the design of the event itself. Currently, the way things are designed, this is a PVP focused event, whether CIG has intended it or not. Making a single location where everyone goes to collect boxes makes it a perfect place to camp. If this truly is a mostly PVE event, there needs to be some changes. If not, then CIG needs to not ever bill anything as a PVE event again, because it's apparently not a thing in this game. Which is fine, but just be clear about it.
