Hey devs, In the latest 4.3.2 PTU notes: “PvP Missions will now be in their own tab on the Contract Manager.” caught my attention. At present, the only true “PvP mission” in the game is player bounties, which are just an extension of the law system. That’s why this new separation caught my attention, it’s an unexpected change and I’m wondering what direction it points toward. Could we please get some clarification on: What’s the purpose of moving PvP missions into their own tab, is it just a UI improvement or groundwork for something larger? Are there plans for new PvP mission types (for example, “pirate player transports X cargo”) or for players to formally declare PvP engagements? Does this mark the start of separating player-versus-player interactions from the organic sandbox into opt-in or structured systems? I’ll be upfront, I’m wary of PvP being formalized or controlled through the mission system. The strength of Star Citizen’s design has always been emergent interaction: players creating their own moments of conflict, cooperation and consequence within the same shared space. I can understand missions for bounty hunting since they’re tied to the law system, but if we start down the path of “PvP only happens when a mission says it can,” we risk drifting toward controlled, opt-in “org warfare by contract” instead of the living, reactive universe we were promised. I know some people may say this is just UI cleanup, but I think it’s worth opening the conversation now before it shapes the wrong expectations. The latest Salvaging changes were dropped on us with no forewarning and while the response has been balanced, I don't see the PvP community accepting their gameplay loop only being accessible through a mission tab. Thanks for the continued work and transparency, I’d love to hear what the long-term intention is behind this new PvP mission category.
