So, we set up some very timely interdictions for 9T lockdown, and I noticed something very interesting. Out of all ships we pulled, any ship larger than a Connie, except 2 of them, refused to negotiate. Smaller ships, even ones with gunners, would stop, play along, we'd take a small cut, and send them on their way. If they were really cool about it, we'd even tell them next time they get caught in our web, to just keep going, it's all good. Hell, if another pirate group got them, we might even come help them since they're cutting into our profits. In terms of non-compliance, C2s were the biggest offenders. They'd immediately book it, answer and hang up on hails, or flat out ignore us. We'd warn them we have eclipses waiting for them out in the black - don't care. Eventually, we catch them, then they run out of flares, and they die, then they bitch in chat. We had a recorded chase of 4,700km to prevent one from escaping because we had to wait for an eclipse to re-arm and make it's way back, then catch up with like a 20ms top speed difference. At no point during that chase did they think "hmm, maybe I'll negotiate. Bed logging isn't an option because the second I get out of my seat I'm getting torpedoed." What is it? 99% of the time, they don't even wait to see our demands. We even had someone in chat offer to pay the ransom for someone who claimed to have no money. Every chunker of a ship out there just assumes they just rule the skies with no repercussions. For a 1.1mil auec load, we only ask for 100k; hardly a dent in your runs, but a big loss if you never make it to your destination. Side Note: If you run crewed, keep your crew calm lol. We had a poor, fully loaded, pirate cat that actually stopped and answered the hail after we started melting it and it's hull turned red. At the very end of negotiations, one of their gunners opened fire at the mantis and it got a size 9 shoved up it's rear in literally 5 seconds. I actually feel bad for that one; I'd hate to hear how that conversation went. Maybe he thought he could save the day by quickly melting the mantis. Edit: Boy did this go south. This was way more polarizing than I thought. Cool to see all the vastly different mentalities though. Remember guys - its a game.
