I will write series of posts about how this game has to be more like DCS to survive without turning into a dead fortnite microtransaction platform. If you do not like my posts about DCS, then this will be very irritating for you. Part 1: Thrust Delay First, take a look at this short video of DCS: At 0:30 you can see several gauges. The long vertical ones that start moving before the circular ones are RPM and fuel flow. Notice the delay between them. circular ones that move after the delay are indicators of the exhaust nozzle, how open it is. This indicates that there is a considerable delay before the thrust lever moving, then the fuel flow and rpm reacting, and then the exhaust nozzles reacting. Below the video is a gif of just the gauges moving. Getting thrust to be delayed (and be weaker than it is now on all ships) is critical for the player to feel the mass of the ship having to overcome inertia.
