CIG what the hell????? Get a reign on your marketing team, what the hell is this??? So now we're selling gameplay? Like actual ship functionality for real money??? Oh boy I can't wait to buy my exploration gameplay in 3 years for $79.99 complete with add on microscope for an additional $15 and a scalpel on sale for $3.99. While you're at it why not make us buy ammo for our guns with real money too? I mean why not? You clearly have no morals or stopping point now. This company is a disgrace. Disgusting behavior. When slam articles come out in the gaming sphere about your company, this is the kind of shit they're talking about. This is what they're mad about. What happened to the company that put players first? We got told we made too much noise, we are the problem. We got sold modular ships without an included module. We got sold a cargo mech in the most cargo heavy patch change we've ever had. And now we're getting sold flight blades, something for in game mechanics. On top of everything else you try and pull over us. ON TOP OF EVERYTHING FLIGHT BLADES AREN'T EVEN UNIVERSAL??????????????? I can't wait to have to pay real money for my turret blades and each individual NPC crewmember. Hell maybe you'll feel generous enough to throw them in a bundle for us. Disgusting. Edit: After taking a day to think, I want to put it plainly for CIG in a less ranty way than above. The community isn't mad that you're selling things. We're mad that you're selling gameplay. We're mad that you're selling advantages with an exclusivity period. We're mad that time and time and time again you prove to us that you simply don't care when there's an outrage. You just quietly walk back the thing, push it to in game earlier issue a "oopsie" post, then do the same damn thing in 6 months. At the end of the day though, you don't learn. You haven't learned. You refuse to learn. Whether that's due to managerial issues or corporate interests I'm unsure and not here to speculate. Every time you do something this blatantly stupid the community gets angry and you quiet us down long enough to brace to do it all over again. Guys. It's been in development for 13 years. The company has grown a lot sure, but that doesn't mean the lessons should just disappear. If there's one thing the community, or hell, even gaming at large dislikes the most, it's being sold gameplay. Yes it will go in game, yes eventually we'll all have access, yes a blade or a bomb rack isn't that important in the grand scheme, but that's not why people are angry. It's the precedent. You want to make a 40th fighter and sell it? Fine, there are plenty of those to keep people occupied until the new one shows up. You want to make a new shiny armor set? Fine, there are plenty of those to choose instead in the meantime. The line is selling something new, something original with new mechanics, ESPECIALLY ones that give advantages. For example Blades, or in a theoretical example, if you decided to make S class ship components and sold them on the store. That wouldn't be okay because it would be an immediate, timed exclusive advantage. I'm not asking to be given free things. You're a company and I understand that you have to make money. When something comes online like this, you can't paywall it. It was the same way with the ATLS. You redid cargo to be manual, and then sold the solution to every single player whose ship didn't have a tractor beam. It was the same way with the Galaxy. You sold a ship with a big empty room and then sold us gameplay modules to fill it. We're not paypigs. Right now it seems like that's all we are to you. I want to see CIG succeed. I want Star Citizen to be the Best Damn Space Sim Ever. I want you to be a beacon in the modern AAA gaming industry. I want to be able to tell my friends to play SC with me. But until you start to learn your damn lesson and what the community truly wants from you, I can't genuinely see how this works. You were built by us. Funded by us. Created by us. Now it's your time to be FOR us. Edit 2: This is post their announcement on 5/16/25. I'm grateful to have heard an acknowledgement directly from CIG on the matter. I still don't think it solves the root cause of the issue though. This same thing happens ALL THE TIME. Every 6 months to a year we get another critical piece of gameplay gated behind the pledge store. Until that tendency changes any retraction is just fluff. Empty words with no weight. These blades are still for sale right now by the way, that didn't change. You will still receive the stat bonus before every other player because you paid real money. Bomb racks are still for sale right now. Both of these things are "arriving for everyone in June". So the problem is still there, the only thing we received is an acknowledgement that we're mad, but not actually a solution. More empty words and promises. Nothing more than a "we understand you're angry, we'll fix it in the future." All while continuing the same exact thing presently. Acknowledging that we're angry isn't a solution CIG. FIX IT.
