I'm probably alone in this one, but I really don't like how crafting is presented. Building seems ok, but crafting items and ships that which blueprints are owned by manufacturers? I can't wrap my head around that. Why do we have ship and weapon manufacturers when we can create the things they want to sell? Not only that, we can even make them better. Wouldn't it be illegal to create a Behring gun? Why would be Behring ok with players crafting their stuff? Why would any city be ok with players wearing self-crafted guns that may not even be capable to pass the safety standards? CIG, you made a world with lots of manufacturers to make the Verse seem more real, and now they make no sense to exist. Now a few people will be almost as capable of doing what an emporium like Aegis or Behring are capable of. Not only that, we will be able to steal their intellectual property, build it, improve it, and sell it. And I say "almost capable" because we will be able to create ships up to Tier 5. Why do manufacturers exist then? I would be ok with this if player crafted items and ships that come from IPs from manufacturers would be considered illegal. It would be fine if ship or item improvements needed to pass some kind of safety tests and players needed to pay for it so they can legally use it and sell it in any legal system. Or let people in the high end of crafting to create their own ships, weapons and components. But allowing people to create what other manufacturers own and leave it at that makes the whole manufacturer thing completely non-sensical to me. Just my 2 cents. Edit: Yeah, turns out you can build a fraking C1 and all is good and dandy: Imagine if you build a Renault Clio and Renault AND local authorities being ok with that. Like WTF?
