Long range space flight in Star Citizen (any distance more than a few planet radiuses), i.e. Quantum Travel is "push a button", it is arguably the most boring part of the game. QT is so simplistic it is ridiculous! It won't help to have events along the way, it is QT in itself that is stupidly simple for a game like Star Citizen. If you look at where the development time is spent, so much more work is spent on planetary activities (ground-based tech), indoors and on FPS activities, not in Space! The only part of space flight that is given any attention at all is short-range fighter combat. CIG simulate the physics of how wheeled vehicles touch the ground using the Pacejka tire model for longitudinal movement, but space flight physics is modelled as straight lines through a fixed grid. This is so ironic, since the game is promised as a "Space Sim", not a generic SciFi FPS. The company has more than 650 employees; they must be able to find one designer and three engineers with a passion for space to do something about the space simulation. I want to see Space Flight, what should arguably be the core of the game, given at least the same level of attention to detail as anything else that CIG focus on. Give me free flight among the planets! Give me exploration and discovery in deep space (yes, even Stanton has space)! Give me orbital mechanics! Give me huge space battles! Give me interstellar flight (for the patient)! Give me Solar wind! Give me radiation fields! Give me the wonder of the deep, black unknown! Give me Space! EDIT: To be clear, I am still looking for the same sort of action-packed, exhilarating, beautiful and breath-taking game that Star Citizen already is. Art can be far more inspired if it takes all the strange and wonderful things that our reality offers into account, not only as a source but as a constraint too. It is harder to allow yourself to be constrained by reality, only giving yourself the freedom of the scientifically unknown. The reward is the ingenuity it forces: It can create far more interesting, unexpected and fun game mechanics. It is also the hall-mark of the highest quality Science Fiction.
