First, let me say I'm not being critical of the devs. They're building the dream. We appreciate all their hard work and recognize that balancing developmental priorities can be a challenge. That said, finding out that NPC crews are 'sometime after 1.0' is a problem. We didn't base 12 years of buying decisions on having full player crews, or AI blades. We based them off of NPC crews. The plan for these crews was laid out very clearly for us. Telling us that we aren't getting these crews in 1.0 is disappointing to multicrew ship owners. It's disappointing to those who bought multiple game packages on one account so we could make custom NPC crew. Most crew positions on most ships won't be manned by players because the job is too boring. We can see this already on big multicrews like the Reclaimer - my friends will go along on a salvaging run, but it's rare to have more than two people on the Reclaimer. Everyone else wants to bring their own ship and loot cargo or go hunt bounties while I/we salvage. AI blades to shoot the turrets won't help this problem because manning the gun turrets isn't the problem we need crew so solve. And this is without even having Engineering gameplay. Yes, it's true that we'll be getting the NPC crew feature sometime after 1.0; but that's an unknown time frame; you're telling every multicrew ship owner that their fun might get here 'someday'. Meanwhile, buy a multicrew Starlancer! Someday you'll be able to crew it. I'd like to encourage CIG to move NPC crews up in the priority list. This is an important feature of the game and should not be left dormant while new features push to the front.
