Hello hello! A few weeks ago I made this post: An Open Letter to CIG — From a Veteran Backer I don't want to make a long text about my life, like in the other post, but this one will be a bit longer — sorry in advance. --- After yesterday's CitizenCon, I honestly believe that Star Citizen should be renamed to Star Combat. It would still be “SC”, and honestly, it would fit much better with the current, and last years, direction of the game. As I said in my previous post, we haven't seen —and after CitizenCon 2955, it seems we won't see— almost any non-combat related gameplay for quite a while (“2 years or more”, you know). I always thought the Call of Duty / RUST / Battlefield / etc kind of experience was meant for Squadron 42, where we are part of the UEE military. But now it feels like even in the Civilian Persistent Universe, which was supposed to be about freedom and choice, we are also forced into a kind of military life — thanks to Intersec and the overall combat-driven design. And yes, I know some of you will say that CitizenCon 2955 showed non-combat content… but let's recap it together: - Nyx: lore and missions about the Vanduul — Combat. - Ships: all of them Combat-oriented (and let's no talk about the recycled of a recycled ship - Shiv). - FPS: new “Frankenstein” weapons — Combat. - Crafting v0: focuses on FPS weapons and armors — Combat. - Instancing: PvE and PvP mission system — first one will be Siege of Orison — Combat. - Interstellar Cargo Missions: finally something NON-Combat related, hopefully. EDIT: Also with ambush — Combat. - Genesis Tech: NON-Combat related, I guess (?). - Rock Cracker: basically “Hathor in space”, instead of an ATLS GEO we use a mining ship — Combat. - Road to 1.0: nothing mentioned about new non-combat gameplay. - Final demo: an old-school Battlefront (not EA) style mission — Combat. So basically, the only real non-combat feature mentioned was Interstellar Cargo Missions one. EDIT: Also with ambush — Combat. I understand that there are not tech systems apart combat, but it would be great if at least some attention were given to other gameplay pillars. This is not the immersive civilian life that many of us were promised years ago — and not that long ago. Thanks for reading my wall of text. See you in the 'verse. WaldeckTBD
