I've casually been playing SC on & off since it was just the hangar module over 9 years ago, waiting for the right time to really get into it. Bugs & bad performance have plagued this game the whole time though I've never complained before as I've understood this is all part of the process. But now there is one thing that's significantly sapped the possibility of enjoyment out of this game. I login with the limited time I have, hoping to have an enjoyable session. But every time it is ruined by these stupid meters at the bottom left of the screen that are always ticking down and if you don't satisfy them, your vision will get all messed up and then you'll drop dead, so it's not like you can ignore them. So, I try and find the shops selling the things to satisfy these meters and deal with a frustrating buggy mess trying to make it all work; Go into the inventory > take your helmet off > back out > try and pick up the item & consume it > look down at the item & click it again etc. By this point I'm just annoyed & don't feel like playing it after having my time disrespected like that. All I wanted to do was play a damned space game and do some actual fun stuff.. I don't care if these meters are named 'thirst' & 'hunger', they're just an annoyance and do absolutely nothing to make the game more fun. If we want to do tedious tasks, well, we have real life for that crap and we don't need it in our games. I don't want a game to feel like a chore. Please respect player time. Thank you. Edit: They did say years ago that these kind of mechanics would not be mandatory (There's a video in this thread), but even so, the main point I'm making is; These mechanics are tedious and do not make the game more fun, especially with the steps & animations we have to go through and how often it needs to be done. Taking these mechanics out would not hurt the game. There's so much more to SC than eating & drinking.. At least just making them something that'd provide you with a buff rather than being something that'll cause you to drop dead if you don't do it would be better.
