Newer players might not get this but most people can vouge for older missions that went missing with 4.0 and never reappeared. The best missions in this game were the ones that never involved a weapon, never had hostiles, never had fauna that spat acid. The best missions in this game involved exploration, mystery, wonder, investigation. And no, not the investigation found at ASD facilities where I singlehandedly down fifteen platoons of "highly trained mercenaries" like I'm the goddamn terminator. This game is called Star CITIZEN. Make us feel like citizens. We are not god. We are not super soldiers. We are not one man armies. Every mission shouldn't have 400 troops to mow down. If I never have to pick up my gun on a mission, it was a good one. Going to a crashed derelict and finding bodies, resources, parts is good game design. What makes it good is that 85% of the time I can go there and not need to shoot. 15% of the time some pirates will be lingering moving some cargo. The unpredictability is what makes it good. Floating around a derelict space station hunting for clues of why it's derelict was a fantastic mission. Not once did I need to fire a weapon. Going spelunking to find a missing person who stumbled while mining brings you back down to the level everyone is and it makes the world feel lived in. If I run cargo and you're even talking about forcing an ambush every time you are doing something wrong. If I go to do some maintenance work and I have to worry about getting shot every time you are doing something wrong. Empty, abandoned areas are GOOD. This is space, there's a lot of empty area. It doesn't feel like it. Adding combat to everything is BAD game design. If you cannot make the game interesting without combat something is horribly wrong. There are DECADES of video games that have figured out how to make things cool, interesting, and fun without using combat. I suggest you look into them a little bit. We've had enough of forced combat. Let us explore, mine, trade, repair, adjust, research, farm, craft, transport, investigate, recover, search, and live without shooting 30 people. I beg you.
