Please see Zyloh's original statement here, as I'll be quoting it. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/1/thread/spaceship-prices/175177 " We want existing CCUs to be used as intended: to pick a ship that works for you, and not as a permanent ‘anything goes’ option." Explain to us how this is fair, considering you are constantly "tweaking" ship stats and entire game systems. Knowing the final configuration for a specific ship, or the system to which it pertains isn't possible, yet you expect us to make a final decision with limited information and knowledge. If those stats and systems were finalized, your argument would hold water. However, given the current state, they do not. "A very small number of users are creating a scenario where they can get a limited ship in the future, without having put any value towards the right to do so." If it is as you say, where only a "small number" are taking advantage of the CCU system, why must you then punish everyone for the transgressions of that "small number"? Why not introduce a reform that prevents those from taking advantage, and doesn't disadvantage those who are legitimate backers and fans from making a ship decision which is in the best interest of their particular gameplay style and choices. Furthermore, I find it incredibly insulting that you claim that we haven't "put any value towards the right to" acquire a ship with a $0 CCU. May I remind you how much you are charging for your ships? Perhaps you should take another look at the store! When I purchased my Carrack it was over $300, and I think most would consider that plenty of value. "If you have a ship of equivalent value and you want to use store credit, you can of course melt it and purchase the store credit version." This is even further infuriating, and quite frankly reminds me of Marie Antoinette's famous line, "Let them eat cake." As you should well be aware, melting removes all bonus items as well as the ship. In the event that a ship or package contains LTI, following this advice would remove it. So... any ship purchased with the resulting store credit (outside of anew concept sale) would no longer have LTI attached. Another reminder, most people are buying ships at this point specifically because they contain LTI. Telling your customers, that in the event they change their minds about their ship choice and wish to change it, to melt their ships or packages, and in so doing lose that advantage, is a direct slap in the face. Now for a sensible solution. For whatever motivations, if you are concerned about us stockpiling CCUs, limit the number which can be used to prevent the specific abuse which you describe. This will prevent the large stockpiling abuse, while allowing those players who haven't quite made up their mind about which ship or profession they wish to pursue, to upgrade to a better choice later on. Additionally, if the grey market is of concern, prevent ships acquired through CCU from being gifted. --!!!! AND ANOTHER THING !!!!-- If the intent of CIG is to force backers to lockdown their purchases, speaking practically, what is the difference from a mechanical perspective, between the $0 CCU system and allowing customers to melt their packages and other assets to purchase other ships down the line? This logic falls apart, as customers can still melt packages and ships at whim and perform the same task. Yes, through this process, a backer would loose "perks" associated with a package or other benefits, but so long as the melting system exists, it provides a counter to the reforms proposed by the expiration of $0 CCUs. Therefore, the proposition of expiring $0 CCUs (and eventual elimination) is moot, if the sole intended purpose is to enforce backers to "sit" on their purchases.
