Dear developers, dear community, with Alpha 4.1 comes the new event Align and Mine, which introduces some exciting new mechanics. However, it currently seems that access to certain resources, especially Caritrine, is only possible through a single, highly contested zone. This creates a significant hurdle for all those players who focus on the PvE part of Star Citizen (fighting against NPCs), as well as more economic, explorative or industrial gameplay and do not want to get involved in direct PvP conflicts. While the earlier event – Supply or Die – allowed for different approaches, Align and Mine seems to be a one-way street here, involving an excessive PvP focus and a lack of PvE mechanics. We have seen such “PvP-Only” or “PvP-Wall” problems in the past, for example with the Platinum Ticket, the Idris incident and also with various other events. Why this is problematic: The event mechanics currently almost exclusively reward those who actively engage in PvP combat. This creates a PvP compulsion. Players who tend to specialize in logistics, mining or trade, or who generally prefer a PvE solution, have little opportunity to meaningfully participate in the event. It would be good for the game Star Citizen in general if there is always a pure PvE solution for end content, events and other complex things, as well as an additional PvP solution, so that all players can find themselves in the game and be fulfilled. There is still time to adjust the event and solve these problems. I would like to contribute to this. Suggestions for improvement: Create alternative procurement methods – e.g. through isolated ore deposits outside the hotspot zone or through purchasing options from NPC traders (at very high prices / low stock). NPC merchant ships that carry such goods and can be looted – for example, through piracy with the risk of getting a crime stat or through legal bounty missions. Conclusion: An event like Align and Mine offers enormous potential for integrating even more play styles. If Star Citizen continues to see itself as an open, diverse space simulation, it would be a great enrichment if this and future events offered several solutions that offer both PvP and PvE opportunities, instead of focusing on just one particular way of participating. Thank you for your attention – I look forward to your opinions! Greetings, Knebel
