I have seen that there are already a few posts regarding this matter, but I just one question for John. And that is - why? Let me elaborate: 1. A few days ago, he said that they're "putting a pin" into the BMM, because they want to focus on smaller and more useful ships. Ok, but why hype it for months, just to ditch it? 2. 3 months ago in a SC live vid he said that the Vehicle team tends to have 12 to 18 month period planned out, and that they're not going to start working on ships if they're not certain that they have all the ship's mechanics and features working already. He also said that the worst thing for an artist is to start doing something, just to ditch it after a few weeks and focus on something else, and that they're not doing that anymore. Yet we saw that happen with the BMM, Legionnaire, and the Apollo just this year. 3. 5 months ago in a SC live vid he said that there's no point in making big ships right now in the game, because the team doesn't have all the features that the big ships should have. And that they don't want them to feel like an empty boat (Jared said oversized gladius if I remember correctly). Now we have the Galaxy officially announced. But let me remind you of all the big ships that are in the backlog: 1. Javelin 2. Idris P/M 3. Kraken/privateer 4. BMM 5. Hull B/C/D/E 6. Orion 7. Nautilus 8. MISC Odysey 9. Pioneer 10. Polaris 11. Perseus 12. Liberator 13. Genesis Starliner 14. Crucible 15. Endeavor and now you can add number 16. Galaxy Now, don't get me wrong.. Being a SW fan, I like the design... BUT here's the issue: Firstly, you're not going to work on it right now, and it's going to be yet another concept ship that's gonna rot in the backlog. On top of that, you guys need to rework almost all the ships for the resource management system. And that's a huge thing. Some of the ships need to be completely reworked (600i and the starfarer for example). Sure. But you guys announce the galaxy as yet another "modular ship"? What happened to the Carrack, the Caterpillar, the Retaliator and their modularity? Then you tease us with the refinery module, but what happened to the expanse? When is that ship going to be released? Without that ship, we can't really expect to see the Galaxy in the verse, right? I was about to congradulate you on the first year where you didn't announce and sell a concept ship that is not going to be in the game any time soon... Seriously, you have earned almost 100 mill just with the ships that we have in the game, but you guys blew it, and you were so close. Also in the latest SC live you were talking about using the whole space of the 3d model for the interior of the ship, yet at least 30% of the Galaxy's 3d model has no interior. Also, we saw a pool table again... Does that mean that we will be able to play pool, or is it just there to look nice as with all the other ships that have that in the game already? So the question is - why? What's the point announcing this now? When will we see it? When will we see any of the 16 big ships that are in the backlog? And look, I'm not attacking you.. I'm simply trying to understand you. So I could decide what to do with my cash as a backer. You should be able to understand the frustration of the backers, especially after spending almost the whole year playing a single patch, and you should be able to talk to us freely and honestly and tell us - hey guys.. we want this ship in the game, but it's gonna take us years before we even start thinking of working on it. But instead you guys teased us with a "working" 3d model flying around in the game... Thanks @JCrewe_CIG
