https://youtu.be/yGqZE-bTdYg?t=39m33s During happy hour the situation was brought up that someone may get a cargo mission then a pirate may get a mission to intercept you. So basically I, the honest cargo carrier who just want to chill and haul cargo (because that's what I like), is going to be deliberately given a mission to haul cargo just so the game can make me the object of molestation by criminals... no thank you. I do not like this idea. I do not want to have to be a raid leader every time I just want to haul some cargo. And, I certainly don't want the game purposefully throwing me to the wolves. Use the mission system to send criminals after NPCs, no problem. Use the mechanics of the games to do everything in your power to protect honest citizens while punishing criminals who subvert them, great! But, I do not want to be the gameplay for people who make it their job to harass others by killing and stealing. No final judgments made, as I know it's iteration, but I do not like this idea. EDIT: Something was brought up and I want you guys to sit back and think about it for a second – given all the different responses. Even if SC doesn’t use its mission system to explicitly send pirates after all you cargo carriers out there, or miners, or salvagers, by facilitating Pirating the way they are, without giving us clear protection, without defining what a safe area is and exactly how safe they want that to be, they ARE absolutely making you a mission for pirates. There has been every type of response in this thread that I can think of. People have said, “of course you will be a mission for pirates and you are stupid for thinking anything else.” Some people have said that this confirms their “suspicions” and “worst fears.” Some have said ”just play in safe areas and you’re fine” - even though no one can really agree on how safe is “safe” (look up suicide ganking in eve). One person said that I may have misinterpreted what SC meant - (maybe) which is the only comment I replied to, if you would like to read his post and my response. Many people seem to think, thankfully, if they do this you will have the option of safety. But is this true? They tell us at every turn how they are going to help pirates rob and murder you (by subverting the systems) and to “watch your back” (as they said in the latest ATV), but they never talk about what the consequences are for being a violent criminal or try and guarantee your safety at any point (not even down the line), and they certainly don’t make it as routine as the pirate comments – but they do want to “bring you together” with them. With all of these vastly different responses, but no real agreement on the important details like how safe is safe and what's the punishment is for being a violent criminal, do you really know? What levels will you be comfortable with? I’m sure the pirates and other combat players are fine with this, but are you ready to be molested as a cargo carrier, or a miner, or a salvager? Do you want the burden to be put on you every time you just want to haul some cargo, because "it's your fault you were attacked"? If you don’t start speaking up and asking for clarification on safety and punishment (from 2017 not 2012) – given some of these responses, from people who are seeking to drive the games direction - you very well might simply be "other peoples gameplay" with the burden placed on you. And bringing people together…? I’m a cargo hauler, I don’t want to be “brought together” with violent criminals who seek to harass me, what about you other cargo haulers, or miners, or salvagers, do you want to “meet” these people? If this is the direction, “no safety for citizens” instead of “no rest for the wicked,” as it appears a significant number think it is, I simply won’t play it. The new universe is coming very soon. They are developing these systems into reality right now. If you don't speak up about what you do and don't want, don't blame CIG.
