While we are 12 years into alpha, I am not going to expect the game to be balanced. However, Star Citizen PvP reaches a pretty deep low. This is because the meta tactics and methods used by Star Citizen players are deeply scummy. That scumminess is a byproduct of the game systems not only being alpha incomplete, but also fundamentally half baked. I am not even surprised when I look at the PTU posts and see a mountain of 90 bodies piled up from players being spawn camped at the research facility medbeds. Medbeds that combat spawn players into an active PvP zone with no camping protection. Did we learn nothing from people being grenade camped at siege of orison? How is it that we have had what, over 5 iterations of Jump Town and it took years just to add a second entrance? There are just so many baffling game design decisions in these PvP events that defy common sense. Design decisions that lead to an incredibly lame exploit meta that completely destroys the PvP gameplay experience. I have not touched a single contested zone because I'm not going to fight through hours of bugs and keycard collecting just for someone to drop a helmet box to noclip through the wall and steal the hangar rewards. I don't loiter around hathor sites just to get instagibed by a stealth firebird's 8 missile salvo that ignores panic flares. I'm not going to touch the new PTU research lab event because of how easily campable it is. While Tier 0 item recovery does help, one single death due to a scummy tactic (like getting grenade camped right after you step off the event shuttle) can set you back 10-30 minutes of preparation. The claims, the transit system, regearing, the hangar queue... The PvP experience just sucks, its just not worth the time investment and dealing with the exploit meta. Maybe if PvP was actually good and not a measurement of who can bend the rules harder or outright cheat, people might participate more and complain less.
