Reading the Spectrum, Reddit and some Discord channels and it seems like everyone is up in arms about PvP and some want to have the choice to opt in & out of PvP. which is the most ridiculous thing I have ever heard. I don't PvP at all in StarCitizen unless I am being attacked by a PvP'er. I personally love having the risk of losing my cargo I am hauling because I've been attacked by a Player Pirate, it creates this sense of having to plan out your trip, finding out the safest routes with the highest security to get to the place you want, if you are an idiot and just wonder in to the middle of no where which is known for Pirates then you deserve to lose your cargo. In the long run when the game is more fleshed out, having PvP always enabled will create a lot of player interaction with Security Organisations being hired by players and Mining/Salavaging/Exploration Organisations to protect their ships. If players had the option just to simply turn off PvP the game would be missing out on all these amazing opportunities. The only PvP that shouldn't be allowed is the deliberate griefing type where you get these players killing others for no reason at all, killing players before they can even take off from their pad, camping outside stations waiting for players to come and leave and then attack them, etc. I understand at the moment the game is in early development so nothing is final right now and things will change. You also have to remember with Ship Insurance being unlimited, resets happens every patch, nothing being permanent right and the game only having a couple gameplay loops, there’s going to be a bigger proportion of bad guys as they’ve got nothing to lose . EVE Online does a good method of creating safer areas for non-pvp'ers by giving each system a security rating, systems like Staton, Sol and Terra would have higher security making a PvP'er have a much harder time as security would respond pretty instantly, stations, etc would have much tougher defences as well, then you get the low-security systems where it always a risk to go in to the these systems as it is where the pirates are usually waiting, etc. Experiences like this make a game something memorable, if players are given the choice just to switch off that experience then it would ruin a lot of the aspects of StarCitizen in the future. Players of this game need to understand that it is your choice to fill up your ship with cargo and venture out to endless space on your own without any protection, if you are attacked and you lose that stuff don't go crying about it, take it as a lesson and know to be more careful of that area/system you went through. When PvP is done right it is a beautiful thing. CIG, don't even think of adding a toggle for PvP, it will drive a massive portion of your playerbase away, even someone like me who doesn't PvP.
