Today has been a very interesting day for me surrounding the topic of pve and pvp. For some reason this seems to be an incredibly divisive topic, and from my perspective both sides of the argument have been ignoring a very important element of what Star Citizen is trying to be, and that's reputation, a working law system, and factions. Below I'm going to address both sides of the argument and how I view it PVE Players Stop asking for pve servers. Further separating the playerbase is not healthy, nor is it logical for CIG to support another branch of development. Reputation isn't in yet. You are not entitled to experience all parts of the game. There's an existing funnel for pvp, contested zones. Don't go there alone. Also factions. You're getting faction protection, that's part of reputation coming online. The rep we have right now is very rudimentary and not at all the thing CIG is intending to leave in for the "final" version. You are allowed to experience parts of the game, but you cannot expect to go EVERYWHERE without the risk of dying. Yes, I agree, if you work for CFP, another member of CFP should not be allowed to kill you and that should revoke their access to all CFP related infrastucture. If you work for CFP and a member of Headhunters kills you though, tough cookie, thems the breaks. PVP players PvE players are not your content. If a PvE player is aligned to the same faction as you, THEY ARE NOT A TARGET. The only reason you can do it right now is because we don't have the reputation system. As I said to the PVE players, CFP shouldn't be killing CFP. HH shouldn't be killing HH. If a CFP wanders into HH territory, that's fair game, and vice versa. It's called faction warfare, not a free for all. Besides, once rep comes in properly, there will be appropriate consequences to each action. Wanna Pirate in Stanton? Go for it, but you're gonna have to stick to Grim Hex as home. That's the kind of behavior that revokes LZ access. As it should be. Risk vs Reward means absolutely nothing if only one side is doing the risking. A Cs3 isn't much of a risk either, as prison is a quick in and out experience. Summary Basically everyone I've seen discussing this is ignoring that we're still very early on in development, hell, meshing only just got added a couple months ago, and this year is all about fixing bugs and telling the Pyro story, but that doesn't mean that the game we're playing today is what Star Citizen is going to look like 5 years down the line. Have patience, both sides of the argument, and please realize that we will all be happy with what CIG delivers in the long run. We just need to remeber to be patient with one another during the development, especially since the game is in such a bizarre state when it comes to features. Much love SC community, much love devs.
