I'm sorry? The wear system is going to force us to replace components over time? You pretty much can't prevent it and even if you don't use the ship wear still happens? Are you guys high? Not even EvE online is this hardcore. Having to manage food and drinks for your character is one thing. But this is on a WHOLE different level. This is not fun, this not gameplay. It's going to turn anything that isn't a small or medium ship into such a high-maintenance mess. You're going to drive away anyone that isn't a jobless hardcore player or part of a mega org. Look I like everything about the engineering design doc. But this? The wear system? Remove it! Straight up, this is going to drive away a large chunk of your player base. I like to play SC because It's mostly a chill game that I can engage in on my own terms. The wear system is going to put an end to that. Systems like these are the very reason I abandonned Dune Awakenning. I'm sorry, but a game that forces me to login just to maintain stuff, is NOT a good game. Please remove this system. We do NOT need this. It's not fun! I understand that you want to encourage players to replace their components, but this is just going to make large ships exhausting to even keep in your hangar. Do NOT implement this. Please. You want engineering to be necessary in combat? Good! Do that. But screw the wear system. All it does is turn ships into chores machines (And trust me, this game is already tedious enough as it is right now) that you have to dedicate hours and hours of your playtime just for them to EXIST. This is a video game. Not real life. What's next, I'll need to fill my UEE taxes too? Do I have to do my laundry next? Come on! EDIT: Wear can be good but it has to be VERY slow. And there has to be a way to slow it down (Like maintenance). I don't mind a wear system per say, but the idea of "Just replace it when it reaches 0 percent" is just horrible. They need to expand on this on the ISC so that we can get a clearer picture of what they are trying to do here, because at face value, what this doc says is not good. I also admit that the design doc doesn't specificly mention passive wear, which I was mislead to believe when reading the top comment on the feedback section. That said, I'm not a fan of not being able to do anything about wear, it just goes to 0 and you have to replace it. Anyways, I'll take my L and leave my original post unedited. But we need a LOT of clarification on this system. It may make or break the game.
