PVP has a Hierarchy in Star Citizen Perfect: The “perfect“ PVP are high noon duels between willing participants. These are awesome. Good: Slightly below this is where one side doesn‘t initiate PVP but should expect it to occur. Bounties fall into this category. Pirating falls into this category (give me your money or I’ll shoot). Not giving your money and getting shot also falls into this category. Borderline: Randomly ganking people for no reason other than you can. Griefing: Pad Ramming, Console blocking, Killing people with gurneys, Killing people with medical tools Etc. With that established here is how this will go: the more perfect PVP the better. An excessive amount of good PvP will drive people away (Ie ambushed by 10+ pirates every trade run). A moderate amount of borderline PvP will drive people away (5 god level Arrow pilots show up every 5th time you take off to randomly destroy you) A small amount of grieving will drive people away. This is the framework CIG works in. If they get the balance out then too many players leave and the game fails. If they can’t get the mechanics right they will either lose the majority of their fan base or have to bring in non-PvP systems or servers To correct the balance. So PvPers understand that if Your behaviour costs CIG to lose customers then things will be changed so that you can’t do those things anymore.
