Lately, I’ve been feeling that the visual storytelling and design direction—particularly around the weathering, outfits, and faction aesthetics—has taken a noticeable dip in quality compared to the rest of the game. With the introduction of the new factions, the contrast has become striking. These groups look less like believable inhabitants of the 'verse and more like caricatures. It’s as if anyone who decides to live in Pyro or Nyx suddenly abandons all sense of hygiene, practicality, or self-respect. The habitats resemble scenes from a horror movie, and the characters themselves seem styled to shock rather than to tell a coherent story. I find myself asking simple, logical questions: If someone has access to modern manufacturing tech—essentially replicators capable of producing spaceships—why are they living among rusted metal, broken lights, and bones tied to their clothing? You can build a fully functional spacecraft but can’t manage a clean toilet? It doesn’t add up. Even from a worldbuilding perspective, it breaks immersion. In a wartorn or resource-scarce environment, sure, you might see wear and improvisation—but there’s a big difference between gritty realism and stylized decay that borders on parody. The older armor sets struck a perfect balance here: each design was distinct, from the “tacticool” combat armor to the rugged nomad sets, yet all felt consistent within the same universe. Now, with Pyro’s factions and what I'm seeing Nyx as well, it feels like that cohesion is slipping away. Everyone looks like they stumbled out of a post-apocalyptic cosplay convention—bones, rags, and impractical clutter everywhere. And it’s spreading: even the weapons and the first ships from these factions seem to follow the same exaggerated, almost meme-like aesthetic. I understand and appreciate the desire for diversity in design, but subtlety often speaks louder than excess. The best designs in this game have always told a story within the logic of the world. Right now, it feels like that internal logic is being sacrificed for shock value. Is anyone else getting the same impression?
