Without a finalized flight model, CIG is effectively building other systems on an unstable foundation. Artificial intelligence, autopilot systems, mission design, tutorials, damage modeling, and aircraft performance data all rely on accurate flight dynamics. If the flight model changes significantly later in development, these systems must be redesigned, retested, and rebalanced to account for the new aircraft behavior. This can result in substantial reworks, wasted development time, and the introduction of new bugs throughout the project. Even features that appear unrelated to the flight model are ultimately affected by it. Mission durations, fuel planning, training procedures and multiplayer balance all depend on knowing exactly how ships perform. Attempting to finalize these elements before the flight model is complete risks producing content that becomes inaccurate or unusable once the physics are updated. For these reasons, the flight model should be treated as the project's foundation. Just as a building requires a completed structural design before interior work can be finalized, a flight simulator requires a completed and validated flight model before other major systems can be confidently developed and integrated. Establishing the flight model first reduces rework, improves development efficiency, and ensures that all subsequent systems are built around accurate and consistent ship behavior.
