The fuel system in Star Citizen makes absolutely zero sense right now. The prices? Ridiculous. The consumption? Nonsense. The tank capacities? Total fantasy. Here’s an example: my Carrack weighs 4,397 tons. I fly 55 million kilometers and it burns… 1.43 SCU of quantanium fuel. That’s about 3.5k aUEC. You know what else costs 3.5k? Roughly 230 chili burritos or half a magazine for a Scourge Railgun. That’s just silly. And then there’s the C8 Pisces. I can go from Magnus Gateway to Terra Gateway (120 Gm), and then all the way to Hurston (another 40 Gm), on a single tank. That’s basically crossing the entire Stanton system one and a half times for like 3.8k aUEC. In a ship the size of a school bus. A ship that, realistically, shouldn’t even be able to leave a planetary system on its own. I get it - we’re in Alpha, everything needs to be accessible for testing. Totally fair. But… at some point this fuel system needs a serious rework. Just imagine if they tweaked ship ranges based on size and role, and made fuel prices even remotely realistic. Suddenly, travel would actually mean something. You’d have to think about your jumps, whether a trip’s worth it, and if you’ll even have enough to make it back. You’d actually stay in one planetary system for a while instead of just quantum-hopping around the verse nonstop. It’d also make ship roles make way more sense: Light fighters couldn’t just zip across the entire galaxy. The Polaris and Idris would actually shine as carriers. Exploration ships would finally make at least some sense. Even the Starfarer would actually have a purpose. It wouldn’t even require new systems or complex changes — just adjust a few numbers. It’s such a small fix that could make the whole universe feel more believable and would add some real depth.
