Dear CIG Team, I’ve been a dedicated supporter of Star Citizen, and I feel compelled to express my thoughts about Patch 4.8, specifically the changes to TTK (Time to Kill) and other issues that have recently emerged. I might be wrong, but I’m not afraid to admit it. First, I want to make it clear that I’m not concerned with engineering—I’m concerned about how these changes affect the overall player experience. The decision to lower TTK once again, bringing combat back to where it was before Patch 4.7, has resulted in the same issues players have highlighted in the past. If you’re crafting for combat or building ships with an emphasis on weapons, the Time to Kill will be so fast that it’s almost unbelievable. With the new crafting system and these TTK changes, engineering as a whole seems increasingly irrelevant. Beyond the combat changes, there are several other areas that need attention: Mining: We don’t mine, we scout. The process feels unbalanced and the rewards aren’t there like before. Looting: With the new crafting system, there’s barely anything worth looting. Looting was once a rewarding part of the game, but now it seems pointless. There needs to be a meaningful incentive for players to loot during exploration or combat. Crafting and TTK 4.8 The new TTK changes, combined with crafting for combat builds, will make combat faster than ever. If this continues, it’ll reach a point where players will have no time to react, turning combat into a race to shoot first. The quicker TTK makes heavy fighters and engineering feel obsolete, diminishing the depth of the game. It feels like we’ve never been listened to. You’ve made statements about heavy fighters being balanced for combat, but then in a podcast in China, you contradicted yourself, saying something completely different. These inconsistencies make it hard to trust what’s being said and leave players confused about the future of these ships. We need consistency, and more importantly, we need transparency. Instead of vague promises that never materialize, tell us what the actual problems are and what you're doing to fix them. If CIG continues down this road, you are bleeding players now. I’ve never seen my friends list so empty since Patch 4.7, and our guild, with 397 members, barely sees two people online at a time. This is a clear sign that players are disengaging. What’s truly frustrating is that it feels like we’re being left behind. The community is here, invested, and passionate, but at times it feels like we’re not part of the conversation. What we need is transparency. Let us know what’s going on behind the scenes. If there are challenges or obstacles you're facing with implementing certain features, or reasons for these changes, communicate them. We understand that development is complicated, but when decisions feel inconsistent, it leaves us wondering what’s happening. We need clear communication so we can understand the reasoning behind these changes, not just vague statements or patchwork explanations. Thank you for your time and consideration.
