To get straight to the point ... I am a proud pirate! Active in the game for over 4 years, I've tried and tested a lot and spent countless hours in the PU. I have played every single mission umpteen times. Since this open alpha lacks content, you'll find your own gameplay at some point. It started with the "wars" around the Cry Astro repair station and then shifted to the drug lab on Yela. Good old times, when people parked their ship infront of an illegal drug lab that is hidden and not marked on the map, like they go shopping in a walmart on a sunny saturday afternoon. Well, hopefully they learned their lesson back then. Today, thanks to a functioning trading system and mining, there are significantly more opportunities to earn money as a pirate. What exactly does this gameplay look like? Due to the lack of mechanics, the only thing left here is blackmail. So you look for a dealer or miner and ask them to pay a tiny fee so that they can travel safely on. Of course, that doesn't make you rich. It's all about experiencing something different. As an example: You are ambushing a ROC miner. My scan tells me that the ROC is 100% filled with hadanite, which corresponds to approx. 222,000 auec. To ask for 50,000 auec as protection money is fair and not excessive, because the miner still has more than 170k auec left. I'm calling this person, no response. I send the person a private message, again no response. Lastly, the global chat is used, again no reaction. You are effectively ignored, because nobody can tell me that you would not notice a private message that appears in pink on the screen. In my experience about 5% of the victims are clever enough and pay the required amount because they know that they will still make a big profit even though a gun has just been held to their head. How do the remaining 95% react? Some try to fight! Right, defend yourselves. Bad for me, but at least you can prove you have some balls. Others insult you in the worst possible way, wish you had cancer or AIDS and hate you more than anything. Others think they are particularly smart and log out of the game. They are by far the worst people. To put it in the language of miners and traders: this behavior disturbs my immersion as a pirate. Of course pirates will adapt to this behavior. You want a realistic, open and detailed verse, but only until one of you gets caught. Then suddenly every pirate is a griefer. Resign yourself to the thought that you could be robbed at any time, just like in real life. Especially if you move alone without an escort. Instead of getting stabbed and losing everything, give the gangster the 10 bugs that you have in your wallet. You survive and you are happy, the pirate has his money and is happy too. A classic win-win situation. So, the next time you run into pirates in a PvA game, that is currently clearly a PVP game, because the interaction with NPC is poor to non exsisting ... Take it easy, don't freak out. Of course it's not easy to be the victim, but life isn't always fair. Be smart! Maybe you find yourself some "friends" this way. Finally, I would like to ask you not to use the term griefer in such an inflationary way. CIG clearly defined the term griefer over 2 years ago (see video). And according to the definition of CIG, there is currently no griefing in the game, because the victim can switch servers at any time, which makes it almost impossible for the perpetrator to further humiliate his victim. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QJgzlnUkrbw
