Yes I know sandox yada yada.. But I'm trying to figure out what the plan is to make players stay in this game. There is no character building (except reputation) so there is nothing really to get you connect to your character.. You can't build it rpg wise.. str, dex and so on.. No perks to chose Its as plain as a BF, CS or COD player There is no epic or unique loot or even it there are (yes i know military grade) ppl will probably not use it because of full loot pvp so it will probably be stuffed in the "bank". This also take away the drive to find loot.. Yes in the first few weeks players will probably loot stuff but when you have 3k sniperrifles in the station... Who will even have the patience to build a base when it can be taken over or leveled to the ground when you are afk? Also since the devs seem to like this RUST concept what makes it kind of work in RUST is servers are wiped often and farming resources is very quick. You can build a big base with 1h farming. Will this be the case in SC too? The think in RUST is that you have a "winner".. if you are in a 1 month wipe server after 3 weeks one of the guilds starts killing the others.. The guild that gets wiped take a break from the game until reset because when 1 guild have 1000k explosives and you stand there in your underwear with a stone in your hand you will simply not catch up again. In games like CS, BF, COD you have short matches where you spawn close to the action, you also have clear objectives and you have a winning team. In SC you have the occational fps fights and you spawn without equipment a long way from where you died. You have the COD/BF/CS gameplay but with a very different gameplay loop.. Need to farm back equipment, find a new ship.. to get back to the fight. Its like PU is very complex as in you can do alot of things but at the same time extremely shallow where nothing seems to happen (except your reputation and bank account change). In CS, BF, CoD you can jump in even if you only have 10 minutes to play and get some action.. In SC 10 minutes is about the run from wake up bed to spawn your ship.. So is it the economy that will save SC? Will it take a year or two to farm enough money to buy a bigger ship? Will that be seen as "progress" but if so, how will average players find this full loot pvp game? If they lose weeks worth of effort when their hauler is becoming a giant exploading loot piniata? I myself play the game in periods.. check back in a year or two.. play some to see whats new and then take a break because there is nothing that hold me to the game.. True there was no persistence before so maybe that will give incentitive to play more.. but we are still in alpha with serverwipes so there is no point trying to farm for money or stuff like that.. I don't really see whats keeping players log in.. Exploring.. Yes but seriously, I look at some youtube videos where they explore..an empty world with some trees and a river and sure it looks nice but seriously, if you had a singleplayer game with that little content it would burn in flames.. There are lots of games with much more content filled areas to explore.. I guess org wars will be a thing later on but there is not much content for solo (or duo-trio) players to stay?
