Permadeath, as explained in death of a space man, might sound like a harsh consept until you comprehend how much fun it makes the game by changing the paradigm, making the player care first for his life, then for his belongings and makes concepts like dignity and courage virtues inside the game. It makes all fights more miningful, more heroic and creates reasons for comunication before confrontation, suddenly there is a place for bluffing and sense motive real life skills. It also makes scaping mechanisms, valuable. It also improves the relevance of medical gameplay, thought I think there is one thing which has not been mention but I hope is part of it: we need the unconscious but not dead state to exist and give time for the medic to reach the almost fataly wounded, when it correspond. This concept comes from tabletop D&D and it would be nice to have it in SC, as well as a little thing, a distress signal beacon, automatically sprung. We also need explosives.
