There is currently little to no emergent gameplay in Star Citizen. The highest earning loops are refueling missions and contracted cargo. Both of which require absolutely no contact with other players and I would even go as far as to say discourage interacting with other players. Crafting is based on RNG and with no way to increase the quality of ore once you have it, there is no way to consistently farm and sell/trade high quality components or gear with other players. It encourages solo or small groups of players to fly around unpopulated areas of the verse, avoiding all contact with players outside their org/group of friends. I'm not saying emergent gameplay is impossible, but I don't see any examples of where it's encouraged. The only current examples of emergent gameplay that come to mind are the Hathor Sites and Irradiated Valakar. Both have important crafting materials and are in limited locations which makes them very good for emergent gameplay. HOWEVER they don't have a way to make aUEC outright, and with the current state of insurance, fighting over them can be an expense thats hard to manage without first playing one of the loops that discourages player interaction. Past Examples of Encouraged Emergent Gameplay: Ghost Hollow: Money printer that notified people you were printing money. Encouraged people and groups to compete over the location. Currently non functional. Jump Town: High value drug printer in a single location. Encouraged people and groups to compete over the location. First nerfed to be less valuable, now non functional. Detatrine Depot Locations: Limited locations, high value cargo. Encouraged people to compete over the location. Currently Non functional Original Sheperds Rest (accidental): Originally high value contract that paid the full amount to all party members. Encouraged groups to compete to hold the location and complete the mission. "Fixed" to once again properly split the payout, discouraging team gameplay. Without ways to earn money through emergent or competitive gameplay, players who want to play Star Citizen as an MMO and interact with players don't have many options. Adding these types of loops back to the game is good for all parts of the community. The players that like to PvP and compete have a location they can do so and earn money at the same time. This lessens the amount that they are "murder hoboing" and allows them to then spend that money buying components and gear from industrial players. Industrial players who would rather work peacefully have less aggressive interactions and are able to complete their loop more efficiently. This allows them to create more of the sought after components and gear, therefore saturating the market and lowering the price, making it more affordable for the players who are looking to buy from them. It's a win win. Can we please focus on getting some of these loops back. As always feedback is welcome in the comments, I just ask that everyone keeps it civil and constructive.
