I will try to keep this short. It is my understanding that CR pitched SC as some form of spaceman simulator, rather than some action-filled space war game. Kind of like a second life, just with a little extra spice and in space. Under the assumption that this is indeed going to be a spaceman simulator, hence portraying the everyday life of man/woman in space and not being some action comedy, where is the normal everyday life in this game. Where does it even start. All I am hearing from most other (vocal) players is kind of "Space is dangerous", "Get an escort", "Get better at combat, measuring risk, preparing to escape", etc. Also, the last couple of events we have had, have turned Stanton into an open war zone. So let me ask you this: How many of you are driving around armed to the teeth? How many of you have guns mounted to your vehicles? How many of you see semi's with armed escorts? How many of you walk around on the streets, just worrying about the next mugger that will steal your stuff? How many of you fear getting your car blown up regularly? This is also where the action comedy comes into play. Imagine a movie of peoples everyday life, not an apocalypse, zombie, or similar movie. Just everyday life where all people, no matter where they are going, are armed with automatic rifles, shotguns, pistols, etc. Even going shopping or to the office. Where the cars are armed with missiles and gatlings. Where all semi's nomatter what they are transporting, are armed similarly like the cars, but are escorted around by tanks, hmmwv's and Apache's. Not some. All of them. Where all mines are crawling with armed guards and every miner has a personal bodyguard following him around (because you never know who might turn on you). Where you draw the gun every time someone enters a room, joins you in the bathroom or similar. Where you always do a 360, twice, before entering your car. Where you always close the trunk when moving stuff from your house or a warehouse, because someone might crawl in through the trunk and steal the car. Not just sometimes, all the time, every time and every day. Please tell me, how many of you would see this and think "Yup, seems pretty normal to me"? I am not saying that escorts shouldn't happen. I am not saying that piracy shouldn't happen. I am not saying that killing shouldn't happen. It should, because it also happens in contemporary times. But a balance needs to be struck here and as I see it, it is wildly skewed towards the crazy comedy part. In other words, there has to be room for doing just ordinary stuff in SC without having to be armed to the teeth, constantly watching over your shoulder and having armed escorts following you around. Also in Stanton.
