I thought the underlying philosophy of the game universe is that we live in an overarching, overpowering NPC driven universe, that we participate in, are subject to and can exploit at times? We were never the hero, but somehow we can forge a laser rifle or ship all the way from originally mining the ore (instead of for example purchasing the components of a weapon, and modifying them) I guess the workers at the Berhing factory are out of work. Purchasing add ons etc makes sense Literally smelting and building a complex sci fi weapon from that does not.
