90% of population is going to be NPCs which means when you are attacked by a pirate it will be most likely an NPC. When player dies to an NPC their reaction will be most likely to think that they need to change the way they operate. Bring better ship, change components, hire escort, avoid that area what ever. Most people would probably agree that it is fair to die to NPC pirate. After all most games have NPC opponents and people don't cry like a babies everytime they die. If people are willing to change their behaviour in order to beat NPC pirates, why should it be any different when pirate is player? You won't self destruct your ship when NPC pirate attacks you, you will change the spot you are mining if here are NPC pirates around, you will bring friends to clear outpost from NPC pirates in order to trade. Why don't you do same when it is a player? Why throw an tantrum like five year old on local chat instead?
