I enjoy the occasional pvp, particularly professions like Bounty Hunting. But lets not pretend that many "pvp'rs" enjoy game professions or even talk in terms of PvP within the framework of engaging in a profession. They just want to break the game, just want to blow up ships for the sake of blowing up ships. That is not role play in a game profession. They don't care about role play as a pirate, bounty hunter or mercenary, etc., and may as well be playing Eve Online, a game I am very familiar with as a pvp player in faction warfare. My experiences in Star Citizen with most so-called "pvp" players are: *Plinking at me from the edge of Armistice zones. *Shooting at me while already exited from my ship (not at the ship) on the pad of Port Ollisar, which is an Armistice zone but ships somehow can fire by stations. *Trying to hit me with their ship as I walk outside the spaceport on New Babbage *Blowing up my friend inside an Armistice zone as he tried to land his ship. *Blowing up my Propector for the lolz outside of MIC-L1 (I didn't even have cargo or get demands for money like a "real pirate" would do), just 'sploded. *Crying in chat because I kited them trying to kill me and they couldn't. At the moment, most of these interactions by "pvprs" are reportable as excessive griefing. But, Armistice zones may go away and these playstyles are not professions or role play, it will only get worse when they are lifted. This play-style is simply intended to ruin someone's day for the sake of ruining someone's day. How will that fare with new players who can only afford an Aurora? Will it encourage them to fight you or encourage them to leave the game? My guess is that in most cases the latter, because most people cannot afford to dump tons of money into a game just to compete with your desire to ruin their game. I've had many positive pvp experiences too, but these are usually real pvp'rs. People who want to have fun with other people, not ruin their game and their day. So, this outrage over any effort by CIG to curtail griefing interactions (slider or armistice zones, etc) is ridiculous and my guess is that even if Armistice zones are removed from the game, PvPrs themselves will do everything in their power to bring them back again, then begin the cycle of moaning all over again. Everyone should enjoy the game and the professions it provides, including piracy (which these things I detailed are not). Edit to add: For the record. I was at Jumptown 2.0. I 'sploded people and got 'sploded many more times. I thoroughly enjoyed that PvP event in every case. These types of role play interactions are not what I am referring too.
