Hello Community ! Now I have never played Elite Dangerous because it is a second tier game, but I have been backing Star Citizen since before the Hangar module was released around June 2013 and Star Citizen has come a very long way and I believe that it is going in the right direction overall. Unfortunately however, space combat has remained unimproved , boring, non-intuitive and just as frustrating as it was since when the dog-fighting module first got released. We need a greater degree of auto-aiming within ship's pilot controlled and gimballed forward facing guns, and we need to be able to treat the entire auto-aim system like a set of components that we can upgrade and modify along with its sensory equipment and the rest of its requirements. Right now, you cannot enjoy any of the beauty or intriguing aspects of Star Citizen when dog-fighting, because everything including any prospect of tactics is almost entirely taken away from you simply by trying to keep your mouse centered on a target for some silly reason. How does anyone expect Beyond Visual Range combat to work in the future which Chris Roberts has already spoken about ? let me guess, CIG is going to make it so that we manually aim the long range targets that we cannot see - GENIUSSS !!! Of course they will use auto aim for beyond visual range warfare, so why not be practical and logical about it, while also making the game far more fun and incorporate it into dog fighting with an option to toggle between manual aim for gimballed mounts ! CIG has already confirmed that there will be auto aim computer blades for turrets, so can anyone please explain to me why we cannot simply insert the blade into the slot for our forward facing ship guns instead ?? As a player I want to work more with tactics provided by future equipment, as this ultra-futuristic craft demands a more futuristic method of operation. Constant manual aiming, is outdated, extremely inefficient, and incredibly miserable to the point where I, and around half of other players deem it to be game-breaking. For instance, I am above average when it comes to aim accuracy in dog-fights, yet the concept of aim-accuracy in the future is beyond absurd - it breaks immersion and instantly removes the fun aspect from the game which should be to focus on equipment and tactics and flight, rather than keep your mouse centered on a silly target. This is due to the silly maneuvering behaviors developed for small and fast craft like the M50 - these maneuvers would only exist in the real world had the principle of auto-aiming been applied and even then the majority of shots would still hit the target. Despite having an above average aim-accuracy, previously when I piloted a Super Hornet with ESP enabled, it took me over 10 - 15 MINUTES to take down an M50 because almost every single shot misses, due to its maneuverability. At one point when I was against 2 of them, it took 20 MINUTES to kill the first one alone ! This is also true to a slightly lesser extent for smaller craft in general, that aren't even that fast, including the aurora which is even more silly. This makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Even in today's age of 2018, all modern dog-fighting aircraft and other military vehicles are equipped with state of the art target tracking technology to maximize accuracy, yet for some reason ill-advised reason in Star Citizen that concept doesn't exist. Because of how complex the component and tactical game-play aspect of Star Citizen will become in the future, it is impossible to properly play with those aspects and enjoy the game when you still need to try and hover your mouse cursor over a target like some 1920s WW1 game. It is impossible to adequately immerse yourself in the game, because as soon as you perform a dog-fight for 5 minutes, it becomes a medical requirement to hit Alt+F4 right in the middle of the fight. Apart from game crashes, this is the single biggest pain and misery generating aspect of the game. Can we please get some proper auto-aim equipment ? Manual aiming can remain part of the game, but it should be optional for cases where perhaps auto-aim equipment becomes damaged or sabotaged !
