I just finished a 6 hour non-stop testing session of 3.23 MM Squadron Battles on the EPTU. Here is what I experienced. 1v1s are either joust duels or backstrafing battles. There is no positional fighting happening. Aim>>>>flying The gank always wins Fights happen at long ranges. (You can kill people from 2km+ with cannons regularly) Laser Cannons are the clear meta guns. They have high velocity, high range and high damage. There is no reason to pick repeaters. Abusing Nav to SCM mode switch as a "merge button" to come at someone with 1000m/s+ out of nowhere and snipe them with cannons is the new popular tactic (NAV-Sniping) Multi-Crew ships get wrecked by fighters with cannons and their extreme DPS. Turrets are worthless Shortened switch times make flying more fluent and make it easy to run away from a fight and defused the interceptor meta. However, with it comes the same gameplay of LIVE where people zoom away whenever they want. Yet in LIVE the attacker can chase their target and catch them when they run. In MM this is not possible due to the mode restrictions. This leads to a worse version of the cat and mouse game we have in LIVE Ships with lots of guns dominate since there is little possibility to evade incoming fire. It's a DPS race. Buccaneer, Hornet MK2 and F8C are flown the most by far. I have tested every version of MM since 3.20. That is 8 months of testing now. A big chunk of the problems listed above have been a thing since the very first iteration of MM. 8 months of continuous development with your player base, days away from deployment to the PU and most of the problems of day 1 have persisted. Even worse, more problems have been added over time. After tonight’s session I can say with confidence that the LIVE flight model is superior in every way over the 3.23 MM iteration. The 3.23 iteration managed to add old problems of LIVE and even make them worse while it has not solved any problem of the LIVE flight model. Additionally none of the goals of MM have been achieved. Make multi-crew viable --> Multi-Crew is a meme Fix jousting --> Jousting is worse than ever Improve positional fighting --> You cannot force a close fight on someone. Positional fighting does not exist. Backstrafing is worse than ever Reduce combat ranges --> Fights happen FURTHER away instead of closer Make entry easier; keep skill ceiling high --> Skill ceiling has been reduced dramatically And what did we actually get out of MM to this point? Taken the 'flight' out of the flight model --> Major parts of the flying experience (speed management, merging, evasion) have been ripped from the game. Ships feel wonky to fly, no excitement while flying Made individual pilot skill irrelevant, zerg others or get zerged yourself Copied the LIVE Hornet Meta everyone is tired of and called it 'interceptor archetype' You've thrown away all the good parts of the LIVE flight model that made for an exciting feeling of flight and replaced it with shallow, unexciting gameplay instead of building upon and improving what we already had. Star Citizen is a buggy mess, no need to sugar coat it. But the way it feels to fly your space ship around, to fly into combat with it. That is what makes me overlook all the mess and bugs. Because at the end of the day, no other game offers such an experience. At least it had until now. Personally I've been skeptical about MM from its first announcement. That is because we've had modes in the past and you / or your predecessor of the responsible team came to the conclusion that in order to offer a fluent feeling of flight, modes needed to be abolished. It felt like running in circles instead of actually moving forward bringing modes back. Yet I've given it a fair shot, tried every single iteration, and provided feedback along with my fellow players. But I've never expected MM to turn out this bad. I know it’s not finished but 8 months in active testing with your players and THIS is what we'll get into the PU? That says a lot. I remember Yogi saying that you've tried everything you could think of to improve the LIVE flight model behind closed doors in internal tests without success. At first I was confident in the value of your internal testing. But when I've heard that 100m/s was perceived as the best speed in blind internal tests (can we call this even flying?) and someone of the flight team acknowledged in the most recent MM ISC Episode that they are unable to simply fly in formation in the LIVE flight model without crashing I was starting to get skeptical. And now when I am seeing the final MM tuning before PU deployment which is miles away from the set goals of MM or a fun and exciting flight experience yet has been approved by internal tests and Q&A it makes me seriously question the value of the internal tests. Maybe it is time to actually start listening to the feedback that you've been given like in the most recent feedback thread instead of relying on your internal tests and start making some more drastic changes to MM. The 3.23 MM Feedback Thread has seen overwhelmingly negative feedback. Yet there has been radio silence since weeks now. It's concerning. MM the way it is now is a good enough fit for a cinematic single player game which needs to be easy to be picked up from the get go and is played ~50h. It's not a good fit for a multiplayer title which is supposed to keep people excited and playing for years. <2 cents>
