Let's compare it to it's main competitor the constellation . The Constellation vs the 400I : The Aquila has 4 size 4 gimballed weapons to the front (2 being size 5 hard points) the 400i has 2 size 3 gimballed weapons. in comparison the freelancer has 4 size 3 turreted weapons ! two size 3s won't put a dent on anything specially if it is a fast moving ship. but even on a confrontation with a constellation or hell. even a freelancer or a cutlass the 400i will lose that fight and that is ridiculous for a ship the size of the 400i. About the same amount of missiles in practice. The Aquila It has a bottom 360 turret that can be used aggressively to assist at shooting at whatever the pilot is aiming at and if you compare it to the Andromeda the top turret can be devastating to the enemy ships specially the fast ones buzzing around, the 400i has 2 rear facing remote turrets which means that the pilot would have to turn it's rear to the enemy to have a better chance at winning a fight. not a good design in any scenario. why would you want to turn around to have a higher chances of winning a fight? The Constellation has a wide cockpit that allows people to walk around comfortably . the cockpit of the 400i is crammed and claustrophobic. The inside the of the 400i feels like walking on a submarine, super narrow and long. the constellation is a bit wider and gives you a little more room to walk in different directions. The view on the 400s cockpit or even it's rear facing windows is like trying to peak out from inside a locker the front view is unpractical, they should had made the roof see through probably with technology like the one found on the prowler and talon a small circular forward facing window makes zero sense on a vehicle designed to travel up down and right to left and back to front.the rear view is honestly just bad. compare it to the 600i or the 890 jump that allows for a clear view of what is behind the ship the 400i just plain sucks. hell even the 300i has a better view of the surroundings. The front nose of the 400i makes it a nightmare to land in first person view. I can land the caterpillar easier into downward facing hangars than the 400i . that huge elongated nose makes it very hard to see what is bellow you. The Constellations have a cargo bay that can carry vehicles as big as an URSA that may be needed to explore hostile planets like the ones we saw on the pyro video as well as a parasite ship that you can get on and fly around for recognizance flight. the 400I can carry a cyclone (the one without guns) and a bike .. that will not do on any serious exploration scenario.the cyclone leaves passengers exposed meaning that explorers will have to carry heavy suits to protect from harsh environments but with very little storage what leaves room to bring back some rock samples with the explorers? and the a motorcycle is too hazardous to explore with any miss hap and down you go. I would almost rather take the wheeled version of the motorbikes to explore (I am sure it fits) Since I realize that the ship is live two things that can make the 400i fill a gap would be the following changes: Change the forward facing guns to a size 5 hard point with 2 size 4 on gimball at least that would force targets to want to move to the rear of the ship where they can be picked by the additional gunners. Greatly increase the nimbleness of the 400i to be in line of something like a freelancer . and the top speed to around 1250 MS making the ship nimble will make it a nice small VIP transport ship
