A recurrent topic - auto gimbal vs fixed performance in dogfights. Situation Apparently, AG got improved for 3.15. So we ran some tests comparing the performance in dogfights matching an AG-pilot against a fixed pilot. The result was pretty clear, the AG-pilot won consistently (always). We were using Gladius. AG enables a fighter to reliably ping shields of an opponent so he cannot regen his shield (for a signifcant amount). Against fixed, there are evasion windows that enable shield regeneration. It feels like AG is tuned too strong vs the accel a light fighter can currently employ, because he cannot evade AG long enough for shield regeneration. Fixed in comparison can be evaded so it is far more reliably possible to enable shield regeneration. Suggestion Tune down AG so that it performs similarly with fixed (a little better hitrate since it has a little less dps). Verify with matches AG vs fixed. Right now, AG feels like theclear choice and it feels like dogfights have shifted towards damage trades. In comparison, 3.14 felt like a better mix between flying and aiming. (Increasing accel would be an alternative, imo preferrably, but impacting so much more aspects that it is most likely not realistic :stuck_out_tongue: ) Edit: There are a lot of constructive ideas and constructive feedback in the replies - thanks towards everybody who replied in that way. This is the way. :slightly_smiling_face:
