Hello ! As usual, I like to put together a huge feedback piece with all the problems I've seen in all my hours of evocati and PTU in the Arena Commander. I'm posting it separately because it's going to cover several categories. I'm going to take some of the comments I've already made in the Spectrum evo section, remove what's no longer necessary and add my new comments. HUD settings Several very important options are missing from the MFD configuration. - Enable/disable attitude (the pitch indicator in the atmosphere). - Enable/disable collision warning (please) - Enable/disable compass - Remove missile warning HUD (it duplicates the dashboard and audible alerts, which creates more visual flood than necessary). - Add binding for enable/desable MFD Cast. - Add a shortcut to select an MFD in the centre of the screen (for facetracking users) - Improve navigation in MFDs. Elite Dangerous has really come up with the right recipe here, so take inspiration from this! When I switch to MFD navigation, I'd like my camera to automatically adjust to the selected MFD, with a slight zoom for better interaction. - I don't want to have to hold down the F key to navigate my MFDs. - I'd also like to be able to navigate my MFDs without having to touch my mouse. For example, in the configuration menu I'd like to be able to navigate up and down with shortcuts, then enable or disable an option with another shortcut. - Adjust the interaction with the cockpit buttons so that they don't take over from the MFDs. Take inspiration from DCS: the click zone doesn't have to be huge, it just has to be precisely on the button that represents it. Persistence With the new MFD settings, it takes a lot of time to configure the 6 different modes for each ship (QT Nav/Flight/Scan - SCM Gun/Miss/Scan) every time you respawn. I'll be honest with you, I've been testing the patch for a few days now and it's unbearable to have to do it every time, especially in Arena Commander. You absolutely must add a way of saving an MFD preset to import into a new ship, whether it's a ship you've just claimed, or a ship you're borrowing from a friend, or after a respawn in Arena Commander. To be clear, I would like to configure my Gladius (for the example) and find my MFD configuration in all the future Gladius in which I would take the commands. Simple and logical. Energy management The current shortcuts aren't really suited to fast combat use of energy management, particularly for managing weapons/shields/engines. With Gremlin and a condition system, I've managed to create an ergonomic binding on my joysticks, but unfortunately for other players, this is only possible with an external program and not natively. Here's my proposal. For years, keyboard/mouse dogfighters have used the 1, 2 and 3 keys to manage their power triangle, and it's very practical. I propose to use these keys again, with the addition of the mouse wheel to increase each parameter. Example: Button 1 + Wheel up/down = Shield more/less Button 2 + Wheel up/down = Weapon more/less Button 3 + Wheel up/down = Engine more/less Button 4 + Wheel up/down = All more/less We can also imagine that this continues for the other parameters: 5, 6, 7, etc + Wheel up/down This solution is perfectly compatible with keyboard/mouse AND joystick. It's quick and easy to use, and I've been using it for several days now. What's more, there are no shortcuts to activate/deactivate the radars (I'd particularly like that) or the other components. To finish off with the power management, I know this has already been asked for but I can confirm that having to scroll horizontally through this menu is a pain. I don't have the solution (another MFD for secondary components, more compact?) but I hope you'll find something ergonomic. Energy management preset Add presets for power management. I know this is planned for 4.0, for the engineer, but they also need to be activated by the pilot with simple shortcuts. That would cancel out everything in the previous paragraph because it would be even more ergonomic. You could take the time before combat to prepare several presets (stealth, close combat, escape, etc), then use the 1, 2, 3 keys (or whichever you like) to switch from one preset to another. Readability This is definitely a sensitive subject for you. The new interface is beautiful, but as usual there's transparency everywhere and readability problems. Pictures speak louder than words, so here are some screenshots of the main problems. To sum up: stop transparency, stop gauges with lots of tiny, thin bars, use flat bars and opaque or much less transparent backgrounds, and use more high-contrast colours. The only thing I can see relatively well is the one thing I don't want to see: the trim. Oh, and one last thing: drastically increase the visibility of NAV and SCM modes! Change the colour of the entire interface if you have to! Use the cockpit lights or whatever, but do something! The sub-modes are also illegible, I never know which mode I'm in with the new interface. Crosshair (edit) At first I wasn't too bothered by the new Crosshair, especially in PvE when the target isn't moving around too much. But since the patch went into wave 1 and I've been able to start doing PvP against good players, I've realised just how catastrophic the new design is. It's far too big in the open position, which is confusing because you get the impression that you're on top of the target when it's inside, when that's not the case at all. What's more, as the Crosshair is too thick, it attracts the eye more than the PIP or the small pixel in the centre. Animation creates movement and unnecessary visual flood that distracts attention. Initially, I think it would be a good idea to go back to the old version. Secondly, I suggest that you revise the reticle to make it more suited to Star Citizen. For example, a dynamic (thin) circle whose size changes according to the spread of weapons and the distance to the target. It's just an idea, but I've been wondering for a long time why you don't do this. Stealth (edit) I love stealth and seeing it return to Star Citizen makes me happy. But it's going to be time to limit access to stealth equipment to dedicated ships, as is supposed to be the case (if you haven't changed the rule from what you said a few years ago) if you want to avoid abuse and a harmful meta effect for the game. Arena Commander I really like the new Arena Commander interface! However, there are one or two functions missing: - A button to invite all group members to the lobby. - A chat to talk to group/lobby members before starting the game. - Please stop with the transparency. - The hangar sound alert should be removed from the menu, for the pleasure of our little ears (DJBuntin already knows about this but I'm writing it down here <3). - The idea of having the hangar in the background is a nice one, but I'm wondering if there isn't a way of doing it even better, with a camera that adapts to the ship so that it's always right in the centre of the interface, in full view. That's all for today! Thanks for reading, and have a great week!
