I'm such a glutton for punishment. I got my hopes up once again over the hype of the 4.7 patch and the new features coming out with it, only to be dashed the moment I tried to experience them. As soon as I got off work I jumped in-game, spent 2 hours going around to various shops to buy my basic gear and get my character fitted-up, then buy storage bins and tools/equipment for my Hermes so I could set out and start playing with the crafting system. Couldn't find any place in New Babbage, not even Dumper's Depot, that had fabricators, so jumped on Google and found that L1 stations all have them on the refinery decks. So I headed over to MT-L1 and to the refinery deck and - nope. No fabricators. How about Hurtson L1? Nope, none there either. So 3 shops without fabricators. Whelp, decided to go back to MT and pull out a different ship, try some hauling or refueling missions instead. But ATC was broken and spazzing out like Max Headroom upon requesting landing clearance, the ATC operator just kept stepping over themselves repeatedly telling me they saved a spot for me. So I just landed a few km away from the station and bed logged. No doubt when I log back in, my ship will be gone and I'll likely be in the center of the sun. This isn't fun anymore, CIG. A whole year supposedly dedicated to stability and performance, and this is still where we are. I've been a backer since 2013, and aside from a brief period between 2.5 and 2.6.3 this has been the repeated experience every single patch. I spent the entirety of 4.5 and 4.6 stuck in Nyx on Levski because of a bug where leaving the station in a ship caused the ship to despawn and you'd fall to your death on the hangar floor and if you exited an airlock your head would disappear and you'd suffocate to death. HUNDREDS of issue council reports about it and after 3.5 months still no fix. How much disappointment can we take and keep coming back? UPDATE: So I played for about 9 hours today. I realized pretty fast that almost every single recipe the fabricator comes with by default requires hand-minables. Cool. Who doesn't love hand-mining and the ROC? /s But found a Reddit post that just says "clear and loot bunkers, you will be swimming in crafting mats" - okay, that sounds more up my alley. So I did a couple bunkers, spent 25 minutes looting them, deconstructed all of that, quickly got annoyed all the mats come in their own little hand-carry boxes and could NOT find a way to merge them all together into a larger 1 SCU box, GG CIG. Learned the hard way that when you deconstruct items, you lose some mats, and so little of the hand-minable materials are used to make items that you get really little back. Okay, so maybe deconstructing wasn't The Way. Looked around in contracts, there's a Hand-Mining contract which shows you the locations of a bunch of caves - cool! So I take that mission, go land at a cave, get in there, and my multi-tool with mining attachment no worky. Found several possible workarounds on YouTube for fixing that, tried them all, still no worky. Well, scratch the cave mining plan then. So I come back up out of the cave only to find - my effing ship's gone. But there's still a marker for it... 630km away. WTF? Well, there's an HDMS 2.5km away, better start hoofing it. As I'm running and moon-jumping to the HDMS, I keep getting notifications "SomeJerkFace just committed a property theft infraction against you, do you want to report them?" Pound [ as fast and hard as I can. Over and over again. Frack. My ship's 630km away because some utter piece of human trash stole it. I know for a fact I made sure my ship is locked and the ramp and elevator were closed before I went in the cave. Still hoofing it to the HDMS. About 1km away from the HDMS I see a Shiv just sitting there, rear ramp open, engines on, so I look around, nobody's home - jump in the pilot's seat and get out of atmo then spool and lock the HDMS where my ship's beacon is. I come in hot and see some vile hooman unloading my ship into a cargo elevator, and I effing RAM HIS ASS with the Shiv and turn him into a red splatter on the cargo deck. Justice makes pizza sauce. Wrecked the Shiv in the process, jumped out, loaded my things (that hadn't been sold yet) back onto my Hermes and learned that yeah - he blew up the ramp, which would not close now. Jump to a station and a quick repair later, ramp's fixed, back in business. Sounds like a fun time, and it largely was, until I picked up another bunker mission, blew up the turrets before landing on the "safe side" of the bunker, killed my VIP target, looted some stuff, and came out to see somehow the top turret had respawned already (I wasn't inside more than 6-8 mins) and was shooting THROUGH the building at my Hermes. Which exploded just after getting into the pilot's seat. Kind of a poopy end to an otherwise fun day of stuff which took far longer than it should have. CIG seems to be improving the information available in-game, but for workarounds to constant bugs you need to keep a browser window open to YouTube or Google. =/ Shipjacking also seems to be way too easy for some ships, even when you leave them locked and powered-on with shields up. CIG I think you need to get hacking online and make it take considerable time to hack a door rather than just pulling out a railgun and shooting a door open in 2 seconds flat. And how convenient that it just drops open fully and completely for someone to walk right in instead of blowing a hole through it and forcing someone to find a way to get UP inside that hole rather than having ramps just drop like a red carpet right into the ship.
