A major problem experienced by the combat and PvP-oriented community when playtesting Star Citizen is the prevalence of sustained high-g and velocity backstrafing - it ruins combat geometry and leads to a nigh-on objectively poor experience for everyone involved. See video example here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gx9FvPFzMDM The following is from CIG’s Design Goals document : The maximum g-force acting on a pilot should roughly reflect what humans can endure. And here’s a reference to what the human body can endure : https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC3884183/ Along the vertical axis, positive g force drives blood from the head to the feet, and negative g force drives blood from the feet to the head. The human body is much more tolerant to positive g forces, as a typical person can withstand 4–5 g, and pilots who undergo high-g training can withstand even 9 g. Conversely, the body cannot be trained to tolerate negative g forces. Ocular discomfort occurs almost immediately, and subconjunctival hemorrhages occur at 2–3 g. The reason this is being brought up is two fold : sustained high velocity backstrafing ruins combat geometry consistency in lore / experience is important In fairness there must be some sort of sci fi handwavium afoot, which is totally understandable of course - this is a game after all, set 1000 years in the future - something is allowing us to achieve brief bursts of much more than “normal” human limits of forward / upwards thrust and survive. However if that’s the case, and the human body begins to experience significant problems at 2+ g negative, then should not the SC experience be consistent with a backstrafing maximum g experience of no more than 4, maybe even less, and the body then just fully gives out? Approaching that your eyeballs begin to literally pop out of your head. A glaring problem also arises - g force experience appears to be bugged and is not affecting the player character in backstrafe - please see the following IC report (huge thanks to @Goloith for figuring this out!) : https://issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-10423 TLDR : sustained high-g and velocity backstrafing ruins the combat experience, and the above is a solution to correct the problem.
