Those numbers were tied to TTK, ship speeds inside SCM. They were the only reason master modes ship archetypes worked with different flight profiles. Because fighters that didn't have the ability to SCM boost out of fights that weren't the interceptor could carefully weigh risk and time their quantum spool to scrape out of a fight. If you managed boost carefully, used chaff to mask your escape you could likely scrape out once or twice before fully dying. Add 2 seconds onto that (in arena commander) and escaping becomes near impossible in many of these archetypes, which means you need even more boost to plan ahead of your escape which in turn means it's even more limiting to play offensively at all. (Run competitive racing quantum drives) and you're now almost impossible to kill and the TTK problem is exaggerated. But Arena Commander doesn't even have the ability to do this As for the meta and what will happen as a result: adding 2 seconds to ships means in arena commander you've forced a meta where everyone is only in interceptors. Arena commander was not ready for this change - we are unable to change quantum drives in AC. On the flip side of that In the PU everyone will be in competitive racing quantum drives for the even faster spool up time where you can easily escape now. Death will be impossible because the spool time will be too short. I'm assuming these changes weren't balanced for combat but spool time has gigantic domino effects on ship archetype balancing. I don't mind quantum distance changes, fuel tank reductions on quantum, necessity to refuel or quantum jump speeds. The only stat that needs to be respected like open-heart surgery is the quantum spool time. I personally (and think I speak for the flight pvp community) that I really don't want to be locked into interceptors in arena commander or finding it impossible to PVP in the PU the next 2 months because of quantum spool time. The TTK problem will be infinitely worse now Trying to stay positive but this one is just another blow to TTK If this value is to change, it should be accompanied by massive weapon balance changes that are in sync with the ability-to-escape stat the spool time My dream is to not have to keep rallying support on spectrum to fight back on bad changes that weren't thought out. These changes are extremely destructive to PVP.
